Šimuni offers opportunities for sailing, diving, cycling and enjoying regional cuisine. The wider Pag area also includes the peak of Sv. Vid. The events, routes and diving courses offer different ways to plan your trip.

Sailing, Cycling and Diving

Every year in the shoulder season, Camping Village Šimuni and the Surfbace Šimuni sailing club host the Shimuni Open, a catamaran regatta. As the dates vary each year, it’s best to check the details for the relevant edition when planning your trip. Another activity to consider is cycling route 08, “Šimuni – Uvala Girenica.” The distinction is practical: the regatta offers a seasonal occasion, while the route is a named cycling option that you can consider independently of any single event date.

The Foka Diving Centre is located at Plaža bijelog galeba. Diving courses are also held at Camping Šimuni, led by qualified instructors, with individual attention for every guest. If diving is an important part of your travel decision, check the current arrangements in advance, as they may change.

Regional Cuisine and Dani Liganj

At Šimuni’s small restaurants, you can enjoy fresh, regional home cooking. The village is also characterized by its fishermen, who return with their catch early in the morning. The cuisine and fishing offer two different glimpses of the village: one can be experienced in the restaurants, the other in the morning scene of fishermen returning with their catch.

Dani Liganj 2026 includes a brudet cooking competition. Visitors can taste the prepared dishes and decide for themselves which team deserves the title. Unlike a restaurant meal, this event combines tasting with a decision by the audience. Check the dates and details of the relevant edition if you’d like to include the program in your plans.

Sv. Vid in the Wider Island Context

At 349 metres above sea level, Sv. Vid is the highest peak on the island of Pag. From the summit, views extend across Mjesečev otok, Paška uvala, the stone-built town of Pag, the Pag salt pans, Velebit, the Kvarner and northern Dalmatian islands, and the Velebit Channel. The panorama takes in islands and landmarks on Pag alongside Velebit and the Velebit Channel.

One trail to the summit passes through pastures and sage fields, by a watering place, and then along sheep tracks. The panorama describes what opens up from the summit; the pastures, sage, watering place and sheep tracks describe the route up.

A traditional pilgrimage to Sv. Vid before the Vela Gospa holiday starts at the entrance to Camping Šimuni. This connects the summit destination with a starting point in Šimuni. Check the exact pilgrimage dates in advance.
