Prizba: Coves and Pebble Beaches
Accommodation in Prizba
Prizba comprises several coves: Podjamje, Danca, Mala Prižba and Velika Prižba. The area also includes the peninsulas of Ratak and Prišćapac. Visitors will therefore find several named coastal areas, rather than just one stretch of beach. Prišćapac has a pebble beach and additional tourist facilities.
Coves, Beaches and Activities
More pebble beaches lie on both sides of the Ratak Peninsula. Nearby, there are restaurants, a café-bar, a post office and small shops. These amenities provide everyday places to visit while exploring the area. Facilities and their availability may change; if you depend on a particular service, check the current situation locally.
Boat rentals in Prizba make it possible to take trips to the uninhabited islets of Vrhovnjak, Sritnjak, Crklica and Stupa. They are about 800 metres from the coast; there are spots there that are suitable for swimming and sunbathing. If you plan to use a boat, ask locally about availability and conditions. A diving centre on the Prišćapac Peninsula also organises diving trips and courses. Operator information and availability may change, so it is advisable to check for current details.

On Korčula, Lumblija is regarded as a traditional cake, and its recipe has been passed down through generations. It has Protected Geographical Indication status in the European Union. Production and opportunities to try it may vary. Every year on All Saints’ Day, a blessing and tasting of traditionally prepared Lumblija takes place in Blato’s main square, Plokata. The traditional event “Days of Lumblija” is also held there.
Other annual events also offer opportunities to experience Blato’s culture: Blato Week takes place from 23 to 28 April and includes concerts, exhibitions, religious processions and folklore performances. Kumpanjija performs every week during the Blato Summer in the square in front of the church. Event programmes may change; check the dates before your trip.
The Govor Blata na Korčuli dialect is registered as intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia in Općina Blato under number Z-7801. It preserves the relics of Saint Vincenca, which are carried in a procession through the town every year on 28 April. The church also houses a panel painting by Girolamo da Santacroce depicting All Saints and the Madonna and Child.
The Barilo Ethno House in Blato features an ethnographic collection of agricultural tools, traditional clothing, kitchen utensils, handicrafts, fishing equipment and stone objects. Tastings of homemade liqueurs, rakija, arancini, roasted almonds and dried figs, prepared according to traditional recipes, are also offered there. As tasting arrangements may change, ask about the current offer in advance if you are interested.
