Sveta Marina appeals to travelers who choose where to go based on activities: the focus here is on two distinct hiking trails and shore dives. The routes differ in length and course, but both head towards Kosi and OĊĦtri at 531 meters. At the Zidovi Sv. Marine dive site, three reefs offer a different kind of nature experience. This lets you weigh up the focus of your trip based on specific trail destinations and diving opportunities.

Hiking trails with different destinations

The 15.8-kilometer Sveta Marina–Tunarica trail connects the two camps in RaĊĦa Bay. It climbs from sea level towards Kosi and OĊĦtri at 531 meters. Along the way, views open up over Sveta Marina, the Adriatic, and the islands of Cres and LoĊĦinj. This route therefore combines a trail between two camps with coastal and island views.

A separate 14-kilometer route starts right by the sea at the Sveta Marina campsite. It also climbs towards Kosi and OĊĦtri at 531 meters, but continues as far as Kameniti vrh. Its views include Sveta Marina, the Adriatic, Cres, and LoĊĦinj. Its stated starting point and destination, Kameniti vrh, distinguish it from the trail connecting the two camps.

For a direct comparison of lengths, the 14-kilometer route can be compared with the 15.8-kilometer one. Both routes head towards the same stated elevation and mention similar viewpoints, but their described courses are different. So when choosing between them, the route length and stated destination are the main points of reference.

Shore diving at Zidovi Sv. Marine

Diving from shore is possible at the Zidovi Sv. Marine dive site. Three reefs descend directly from the pebble beach to depths of up to 55 meters. The site allows dives for all diving categories. This dive site remains accessible even when the weather prevents boat departures. For planning purposes, this marks a clear difference between this shore site and dives that require a boat; you should still take local sea conditions into account.

Culture and additional trails in the wider destination of Općina RaĊĦa

The town of RaĊĦa, with its own mining history, lies within the wider municipality of Općina RaĊĦa. It was built between 1936 and 1937 as a planned mining town, based on designs by architect Gustavo Pulitzer Finali. The Church of Sv. Barbara in RaĊĦa is a modernist and rationalist building with a 25-meter-high tower. Its shape recalls an upside-down mining cart, while the bell tower resembles a miner’s lamp.

The Centar Arsia presents RaĊĦa’s mining heritage in a small museum on the town square. The historical significance of mining is also reflected in the numbers: the RaĊĦa mine employed more than 10,000 miners from 1928 to 1966. Kova Experience offers visitor tours of a mine. Guests enter a mine and experience a day in the life of a miner. Check the booking details before your trip.

The Centar Arsia is also accessible to people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility. Confirm accessibility before your trip. Another trail in the wider destination of Općina RaĊĦa, the Bella Vista, follows a white road through Gora GluĊĦići to Skitača.
