Perci and the Grad Buzet area

The L50024 road connects Črnica with the L50026 near Perci. The wider travel area’s landscape includes the Ćićarija karst region, with sinkholes, caves and gorges, as well as meadows, pastures and wooded areas. It also includes the Mirna River basin and the white limestone cliffs of Bijela Istra. Buzet is known for its medieval hilltop old town above the Mirna Valley and for the truffle-rich forests along the Mirna.

The wider travel area also includes Istarske Toplice in the Mirna Valley. There you’ll find sulphur-rich water, thermal baths and mud baths. Wellness services and access arrangements may change; check the current conditions if you’re planning a visit.

Raspadalica and activities nearby

Raspadalica is a viewpoint on Ćićarija near Perci, at an elevation of about 550 metres. The Raspadalica launch site is at 545 metres. Municipal plans designate Raspadalica in Perci as an area for paragliding and hang-gliding. The launch site has been described as closed to individual flights. Check local conditions before flying. The grass landing area is beside the Buzet–Slum road.

You can go mountain biking, rock climbing and trekking in Raspadalica. Team-building days can also be organised in the area. Each activity requires its own planning; in particular, check the local situation in advance if you’re planning a flight. Jama kod Sluma has a vertical entrance, and it is possible to descend to a depth of up to 60 metres. If you’re planning to visit this cave, confirm the participation and safety requirements locally.

Church history and cultural sites

Perci is one of the settlements in the parish of Sv. Roka in Črnica. The parish church in Črnica was built in 1556 and renovated in 1988. The connection between the settlement and the parish’s history offers a concrete insight into the area’s historical structure, although the church itself is not in Perci.

Hum and Roč also represent different aspects of Istrian cultural history. In Hum, the custom of electing a village prefect on St John’s Day has been preserved. The seven-kilometre-long Aleja glagoljaša, which runs from Roč to Hum, also ends there. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Roč was a centre of Croatian literary culture, publishing and printing based on the Glagolitic script. The town attracts day-trippers, tourists and people interested in history and Glagolitic heritage.

The Museum of Hum Aura presents Istria’s past and traditions, the customs and crafts of its inhabitants, and their way of life. Visitors can write a postcard in the Glagolitic script, make an herbal cream, taste Biska from an old wooden barrel or hand-letter a Biska bottle label. Hands-on activities and access arrangements may change; check which activities are available when planning a specific visit.

Other nearby destinations reveal different aspects of the region’s cultural heritage: Kotli is a protected rural settlement with preserved farmsteads, exterior staircases and a watermill. Pietrapelosa Castle stands above the Mirna and was never completely destroyed; the chapel of Sv. Marije Magdalene has survived to this day. Both places add to the cultural picture with their distinct architectural histories and stories of preservation.

Truffles and regional events

At the traditional Festival istarskih tartufa in Buzet, visitors could see, taste and buy truffles and regional products. The programme also included a cooking demonstration, music, a children’s area and the Lov na tartuf race, which combines mountain biking and trekking. Dates and programme details vary by edition. If you’re travelling specifically for the festival, check the dates and programme for the relevant edition.
