Accommodation in Gladovec Kravarski
The Kravarščica rises in Gladovec Kravarski below the summit of Severić, at an elevation of about 200 metres above sea level. From its source, the stream flows for approximately 31 kilometres before joining the Kupa. The watercourse and its source area give the village a tangible connection to the landscape, also reflected in the names of the protected area and the park.
A stream landscape and protected habitat
The Natura 2000 site “Gornji Hruševec – potok Kravarščica” covers about 315 metres of the Kravarščica stream. It is considered an important area for habitat type CST 6430: hydrophilous tall herb fringe communities of river banks and woodland edges. This designation describes a specific habitat type; it is not a general statement about visitor facilities. Those interested in nature will find a clearly defined focus here, centred on the stream.
The wider setting of the Općina Kravarsko
The Općina Kravarsko lies in the southern part of Zagreb County and in the central part of the Vukomeričke gorice. This gently elevated, relatively low mountain range has an average elevation of about 200 metres and extends approximately 35 kilometres in a north-west to south-east direction. Its hills are crossed by valleys formed by numerous permanent and intermittent streams. Vineyards and orchards shape the landscape of the Vukomeričke gorice. This regional overview complements the local story of the Kravarščica without equating landscape features with specific places in Gladovec Kravarski.
Cycling and routes
The “Biciklom na Kupu (VG–Kravarsko–Pokupsko)” cycling route runs through the Vukomeričke gorice and offers the option of continuing by bicycle to swim in the Kupa. Due to its length and numerous climbs, it is rated 5 out of 5 for difficulty. Check road conditions and traffic before setting out. The Green Route runs from Kravarsko via Ključić Brdo, Kozjača and Strezojevo to Donji Hruševec. The two descriptions provide different kinds of guidance: a difficulty rating is given for the cycling route to the Kupa, while the Green Route is described by a sequence of places.
Facilities at the Eko-etno-Sport and Recreation Park
The Kravarščica–Gornji Hruševec Eko-etno-Sport and Recreation Park includes a building with a hall and covered stage, an equipped football pitch, a gazebo and a children’s playground. These facilities offer a different point of interest from the stream landscape and cycling route. Before visiting, check the current condition of the facilities and whether public access is possible.
Vincekovo and viticulture
The Vincekovo custom includes the first pruning of the vines, the blessing of the vine and pouring wine over it. The specific proceedings may vary from year to year. More than 70 people took part in the Vincekovo celebration on 23 January 2026 at the Matušin family’s vineyard in Kravarsko; the vineyard and the winemakers were blessed. This date and attendance figure refer to that specific celebration, not to a future event date.
