When choosing Lipovača as a place to stay, cultural sites, an annual sporting tradition, and transport infrastructure offer different points of reference. The town’s history includes the Church of St. Anne, stone crosses, and a cemetery south of the town on the Bobotski Canal. The small-sided football tournament commemorates two former club members. Lipovača can therefore be discovered through both its religious cultural sites and its local club life.

Church of St. Anne and Stone Crosses

Cultural heritage associated with Lipovača includes the Church of St. Anne at Sv. Ane 30 and a stone votive cross to Saint Procopius at the corner of Sv. Ane and Grobljanska. There is also a stone Roman Catholic cemetery cross, a stone Orthodox cemetery cross, and the cemetery south of the town on the Bobotski Canal. The crosses mentioned here belong to different local contexts: one stands at a street corner, while two are described as cemetery crosses.

The new Church of St. Anne was built on the site of a destroyed church. When it was blessed, it received a new altar and an altarpiece depicting Saint Anne. Next to the votive cross to Saint Procopius, a temporary Orthodox place of worship was established in 2019. The building’s history, furnishings, and various religious associations give Lipovača’s cultural landscape specific points of interest without reducing it to a single building.

Sporting Tradition and Community Use

The “Tomislav Živković/ Jozo Stjepanović” small-sided football tournament is held every year in Lipovača. It commemorates former club members Tomislav Živković and Jozo Stjepanović. Alongside the churches and crosses, the tournament adds a sporting dimension, linking local competition with the remembrance of two former club members.

The HNK Lipovača premises were also associated with community use: in 2020, they were intended for various events for the residents of Lipovača. The reconstruction plans included an exterior canopy, benches, and worktables. This planned equipment adds an event-related aspect to the picture of the club’s surroundings; it is a planning detail from 2020, alongside the tournament tradition, which is explicitly held every year.

Lipovački put and Its Place in the Vukovar Destination

The reconstructed Lipovački put connects Vukovar with the suburban settlement of Lipovača and features a pedestrian path and a cycling path. A 2021 tourism map shows Lipovača and Lipovački put together with the categories of hiking trails and cycling routes. If you use this information in your planning, check the trail markings on site before using it to plan a specific route.

The wider Vukovar destination has its own focus on culture and history. Vukovar lies at the confluence of the Vuka and Danube rivers. The Vukovar City Museum is housed in Eltz Castle; its permanent exhibition covers a period of 8,000 years. The Homeland War Memorial Centre presents the exhibition “Sjećanje na Domovinski rat – Bitka za Vukovar” and connects Vukovar’s memorial sites through visitor programs. These attractions are in Vukovar, not among Lipovača’s cultural sites.

Another distinct landmark in Vukovar is the water tower. It is a protected cultural asset and a technical and memorial monument, stands 50.33 metres tall, and was built between 1963 and 1968. The Vučedol Culture Museum also displays the oldest prehistoric four-wheeled vehicle. Together, these Vukovar cultural sites appeal to different interests: a permanent exhibition spanning a long period of history, an exhibition about the Homeland War, a technical monument, and an archaeological museum object. They provide a separate context for placing Lipovača within the wider Vukovar destination.
