Botovo: Chapel, Drava and Go-Kart Track
Accommodation in Botovo
Botovo can be explored through several specific themes: the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, views of the Drava from the bridge, the landscape north of the village and the go-kart track. If you are looking for a hotel in Botovo, these differences can help with planning: consider whether cultural history, nature or leisure activities are especially important for your stay.
Chapel and Local History
The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is classified as tangible cultural heritage and is located at an intersection on the main road. Its history dates back to the early 20th century: the original chapel was demolished in 1974. A new chapel was built in 1984 and relocated to Miškinina Street. At the foot of its altar is a restored relief depicting Mary Magdalene, Saint Sebastian and Saint Roch. The new building and the preserved religious artwork thus stand side by side, while the dates make clear the time elapsed between the original building and the later chapel.
The Drava and the Landscape North of Botovo
The bridge in Botovo offers views of the Drava. The visitor area north of Botovo includes riparian and gallery forests, nutrient-rich lakes and ponds, wet meadows and floodplain forests.
The visitor area also includes an educational trail and a provisional route of the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail with a rest area. Before visiting, check on site what is currently available. Botovo is also one of the Drava locations where DRAVA LIFE activities took place. The project supported Natura 2000 habitats and aimed to increase recreational value in the wider area; the project period ended in 2024.
Cycle Route, Go-Kart Track and Dining
A cycling and pedestrian route connects Drnje and Botovo. Its completion was reported on December 5, 2024. A traditional cycling event organized by Drnje for May 1 also passed through Botovo: in May 2022, the circular route ran from Drnje via Torčec, Đelekovec and Šoderica to Botovo and back to Drnje. The route shows which places were connected during this event; it does not make any claims about later editions.
A municipal publication from 2020 gives the length of the go-kart track in Botovo as 602 meters. At Pizzeria Kavalir in Botovo, parking is available, pets are welcome and card payments are accepted. A 2020 publication also mentions the pizzas “Selo moje malo” and “Botovečka.” If you would like to try one of these varieties, check the current menu beforehand.

The 24th edition took place at the event venue and refers historically to the veneration of Saint George as the former patron saint of the village and parish.
