Živike lies in Crnac polje, in the central Posavina region of the Slavonian interfluve. If you are looking for a hotel in Živike, this geographical location places the town in a predominantly rural region. Specific visitor highlights include the Kereković rural tourism estate, activities involving horses and the Sava, and regional tastings.

The location details describe different geographical scales: Crnac polje is the more immediate reference, central Posavina is the broader subregion, and the Slavonian interfluve is the larger setting.

Location and history

Two named road connections provide orientation: county road Ž-4203 connects Živike with Lužani; local road L-42027 leads from Živike to Pričac. The Chapel of St. Catherine, Virgin and Martyr, was built around 1730. It is a historical landmark alongside the town’s rural offerings.

Rural stays and getting around

The Kereković rural tourism estate is located in Živike. Accommodation options include camping in a tent and staying in an old-style room inside a barn. This gives you a choice between a tent stay and a room. The estate also includes an old barn with a cellar and an original wooden house that is around 140 years old.

For horse-related activities, you can choose between a horseback ride and a carriage ride. Kereković offers horseback rides along the Sava and on trails around the eight-hectare ranch. The estate has eight Lipizzaner horses; carriage or wagon rides are also available. Another option on the river is the tourist boat Graničarka, which offers trips on the Sava with tastings. The difference is the mode of transport: horse activities are an alternative to a trip on the Sava aboard the Graničarka.

Traditional games round out the visitor offerings. Fishing is also available at a nearby freshwater pond, in an area of approximately three hectares. Check the availability of the activities, accommodation and culinary offerings mentioned here before travelling.

Tastings and scenery along the Sava

Tastings at Kereković include homemade rakija, wines from the area around Oriovac, kulen and švargl. Homemade dishes are prepared using ingredients from the estate and from Živike and Pričac. The drinks and dishes therefore have different regional connections: the wines come from the area around Oriovac, while ingredients for the dishes also come from Živike and Pričac.

The HR2000424 Vlakanac-Radinje ecological network area stretches along the Sava from Davor to Pričac and reaches Živike. Its landscape includes representative alluvial forests of pedunculate oak. The Sava is therefore both a landscape feature and the setting for the horseback rides and boat trips on offer; the alluvial forests add a specific forest type to this river setting.
