When looking for hotels in Aksakovo, you can distinguish the town itself from the wider destination of Aksakovo. The town is home to the central Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God; nature and leisure destinations are part of the wider setting of Aksakovo Municipality. For your choice, the key question is whether the town’s architectural history or the landscapes, protected areas, and activities across the municipality will shape your stay.

The church and its architectural history

Construction of the central Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God began in 1896; it was completed for its first liturgy in 1906. Its oldest icons are on the iconostasis, which dates from 1900. The carved altar is also part of the church’s construction and furnishing history: it was made in Oreshak by the Troyan School. If you plan to visit the church, check the access arrangements in advance, as they may vary.
