Memorial sites and history
The memorial park in Sarantsi commemorates the Battle of Tashkesen, the fighting of which is dated to December 19, 1877. On that day, Russian troops broke through the Ottoman defenses near Sarantsi. The breakthrough helped create the conditions for the clearing of the Arabakonak Pass and the liberation of Sofia.
Sarantsi is also home to the monument near Pereste dedicated to the soldiers of the 53rd Volhynian Infantry Regiment; it is considered a historical site of national significance. Two military cemeteries are considered historical sites of local significance. Sarantsi railway station is also considered a historical site of local significance.
Church and cultural life
The Eastern Orthodox Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Sarantsi was built in 1896 and underwent major renovation in 2014. The former name of the settlement was Tashkensen; Turkish registers list it from 1728 onward. Probuda-1903 in Sarantsi is the oldest community cultural association in the municipality of Gorna Malina.
The dates can also be read as a timeline: the former name appears in Turkish registers from 1728, the fighting is dated to 1877, the church was built in 1896, and it was renovated in 2014. The settlement's character thus encompasses a historical record of its name, the history of an event, and a building that has undergone more recent restoration.

The Podbalkan Road runs through Sarantsi. A Stolnik–Sarantsi section is listed in the national railway infrastructure program for 2018–2022. These references provide geographical and time-specific context for transport connections to the settlement.
