Divchovoto is a destination for travelers who want to include marked trails, mountain destinations and the Boatin natural area in their plans. The Municipality of Teteven counts the village among the lesser-known destinations it aims to promote. If you are looking for a hotel in Divchovoto, you can choose where to stay based on specific interests: the Boatin protected area, marked trails or the peaks of Paskal and Kartal.

Boatin: Nature Conservation with Clear Access Rules

The Boatin Nature Reserve is located in the area of Divchovoto and was declared a nature reserve in 1948. Access within Boatin is restricted to scientific visits and travel along marked trails; educational purposes are included. Check the local signs before visiting. This lets you factor the protected landscape into your travel plans without losing sight of the access rules in force there.

Hiking Trails and Getting to the Huts

The drive to Anchova-Bichkia Hut goes via Teteven and Cherni Vit, then along the road to Divchovoto as far as the VEC turnoff. Road conditions may change, so check the route before setting out. Momina-Polyana Hut has a different approach: it can be reached in a vehicle with high ground clearance or via well-marked hiking trails. Seasonal conditions may affect vehicle access, which you should take into account when planning.

A marked hiking trail passes Anchova-Bichkia Hut on its way toward Momina Polyana. It also leads toward the peaks of Paskal and Kartal. Desetkar is a bus stop on the Teteven–Divchovoto route. The journey from there to Momina-Polyana Hut is listed as taking four hours. This time estimate applies to the route from Desetkar to the hut, not to the drive to Anchova-Bichkia Hut. If you plan to use the bus stop, check the current timetable.

Kostina: Meadow, Rest Areas and Eco-Trail

Kostina is a flat, elongated meadow with parking areas and rest areas. The yellow-marked “In Benkovski’s Footsteps” eco-trail follows part of the route from Kostina toward Divchovoto. You can check the current trail markings before hiking. The meadow and the trail offer different planning details: the former has the parking and rest facilities described here, while the latter is a marked route toward Divchovoto.

Regional Cuisine in the Wider Teteven Area

The cuisine also offers a regional connection that extends beyond Divchovoto into the wider Teteven area. Salamura is a fish soup made with small fish, garlic and plenty of spices. Krotmach combines roasted, peeled peppers with cheese and strained yogurt. Byal maz is made with cheese, fresh milk and flour, and can be served savory or sweet. The dishes differ in their basic ingredients: from fish soup, to peppers with dairy products, to a dish that can be served either sweet or savory.
