Schlüßlberg: Hiking Routes, Castle and Culture
Accommodation in Schlüßlberg
Schlüßlberg combines a signposted network of hiking trails with cycling connections, a castle above the town and a cultural venue in a Baroque four-sided farmhouse. This gives you several specific points to consider when choosing your stay: you can focus on the length of a circular walk, the direction of a cycling route or the architectural setting of a cultural destination. The town centre is surrounded by meadows and forests.
Hiking on six circular routes of different lengths
In Schlüßlberg, the hiking trail network comprises six circular routes of varying lengths, between 2 and 10 kilometres. This range gives you a practical basis for planning: if you are looking for a shorter route, consider the lower end of the range; if you would like to cover more distance, the longer circuits are an option. The Schallerbach circular route is a 10-kilometre extension of the network, placing it at the upper end of the stated distance range.
Since spring 2023, the trail network has been supported by digital tools and signposted. You can download the relevant route directly to your phone using a QR code, or view it there. Two information boards in the town centre provide an overview of the hiking trail network. When choosing a route, you can therefore decide between a single route on your phone and an overview of the network in the town centre.
Castle and cultural venue in Schlüßlberg
Schlüßlberg Castle, formerly Schlüßlberg Castle (Burg), is protected as a historic monument by official decree. It rises above the town on a spur of land projecting from the right-hand slope of the Trattnach Valley. Its position above the town and the shape of the terrain give the castle a distinctive architectural and landscape setting.
Hofbühne Tegernbach is a protected Baroque four-sided farmhouse dating from 1704 and has been a cultural venue since the turn of the millennium. The former barn, cowshed, stable and inner courtyard have been used for events. The programme included jazz, rock, blues and swing, as well as theatre performances, exhibitions, cabaret, films and seminars. Schlüßlberg thus offers a historic castle and a cultural venue with several event spaces to suit a range of cultural interests.
