Gaspoltshofen offers several clearly distinct themes for planning a trip: church art and architectural history, named hiking trails, an outdoor pool and the kinOptikum. If you are looking for a hotel in Gaspoltshofen, the focus of your stay can help you plan your itinerary. Would you like to explore Baroque furnishings, choose trails based on their landscape landmarks, or include the outdoor pool and cinema museum in your plans? The local sights and routes provide specific points of reference.

Church art and architectural history

Gaspoltshofen Parish Church was built in its present form between 1732 and 1735 and is considered the principal work of the Passau master builder Jakob Pawanger. The Baroque church is distinguished by its magnificent furnishings, its famous Fischer pulpit and numerous art-historical treasures. At the branch church in Höft, other historical dates come to the fore: it was first mentioned in a document in 1565. According to the year painted on it, the early Baroque altar dates to 1643; the Five Wounds Cross was carved in 1894. For a cultural-history focus, the area therefore offers both the architectural history of the parish church and documented, dated details from Höft. The dates in Höft mark different historical reference points: the church’s first documented mention, a year painted on the altar, and the carving of the cross.

Hiking trails with notable landmarks

When choosing a hiking trail, you can consider its length, elevation and named landscape landmarks. The Herkules Path is 15 kilometres long and reaches Ödberg, the highest point in the municipality at 692 metres. The Gaspoltshofen Panorama Trail runs through the Hausruck Forest to the foot of the same mountain. The two references to Ödberg are therefore distinct: the Herkules Path reaches the highest point, while the Panorama Trail reaches the foot of the mountain and runs through the forest. The Venus Loop passes the Mostlandl ponds in Fading. The HÖR_GANG leads over Stömerberg to the legendary, idyllic Egellacke in Herrnholz. The Lies Roas starts at the middle school in Gaspoltshofen and runs from Föching towards Haag along the Haager-Lies route to Obergmain. Check the latest route information before setting out, as it may be updated.

Outdoor pool and kinOptikum

Gaspoltshofen outdoor pool is located near the town centre, on the Innbach. The facility was created in 1935 and includes a 500 m² main pool for swimmers and non-swimmers. Both its location and pool size offer specific points of reference for planning; check seasonal opening hours before visiting.

The kinOptikum Gaspoltshofen is a cinema museum where visitors can get a behind-the-scenes look at the cinema. One projector is still in working order and is one of very few of its kind worldwide. If you plan to visit the museum, check the visitor arrangements separately.
