Lasberg combines hiking with architectural and craft history. If you are looking for a hotel in Lasberg, you can choose the focus of your stay based on whether you would like to spend time on hiking trails or discover historic sites and industrial heritage. The options differ in trail length, scenery and visitor conditions; the specific details will help you plan.

Hiking trails with varied terrain

Lasberg offers more than 60 km of well-marked hiking trails. The network crosses gently rolling landscapes, past lush meadows and through shady forests. Starting at the railway stop, the Meditation Trail follows the Feistritz Valley for about 2 km; the green Market Culture Hiking Trail, by contrast, includes a steep, 6 km detour to Buchbergfelsen. In Elz, the La 8 – Elzer-Weg offers a short detour to the Pechölstein. The extensive bridleway network provides opportunities to explore the municipality on horseback. The trails mentioned differ in length and terrain; take both into account when making your choice.

Castle, observation tower and parish church

Dornach Castle ruins were built around 1200 by the Barons of Lasberg and were first mentioned in a document in 1416. They are a protected monument. Dornach Castle stands on a block of rock above a steeply sloping river valley and features a massive round tower. Poetry readings are held at Dornach Castle every year. The construction date and the first documented mention refer to different historical milestones.

The wooden Hoh-Haus observation tower on Buchberg stands on a historic castle rock high above the Feistritz Valley. Locally, Buchberg is also known as Hoh-Haus or Burgberg. There may have been a wooden refuge castle here in the early Middle Ages; the castle moat and earth rampart are still visible at the entrance to the castle rock. Lasberg Parish Church is also a protected monument and is described in the travel guide to the MĂĽhlviertel Gothic Route. Its interior has been digitized for a virtual tour.
