Going Am Wilden Kaiser offers a range of starting points for planning your trip: Moor & More showcases the restored moorland, Going Lake offers a woodland setting and views of the Kaiser Mountains, and Astberg is ideal for hikes and walks. There is also a traditional craft market and connections to the series “Der Bergdoktor”. This selection can help you decide what to focus on during your stay before looking for a hotel.

Moor & More and Going Lake

Moor & More is a natural adventure area in Going Am Wilden Kaiser. It lies amid restored moorland with particularly impressive flora and fauna. For visitors interested in nature, this landscape is a distinct point of interest alongside the village’s mountain and lake scenery.

Going Lake is fed by clear springs from the Kaiser Mountains. It is idyllically situated at the edge of the forest and offers wonderful panoramic views of the Kaiser Mountains. The two natural settings offer different highlights: Moor & More focuses on the moorland, flora and fauna, while the lake is defined by its woodland setting and mountain panorama.

Astberg and the hike to Astberg Lake

The Astbergbahn is a four-person chairlift from Going to the 1,200-metre-high Astberg. You can go hiking and walking on Astberg. The lift provides a link from Going up the mountain, while the route description for the hike to Astberg Lake gives you the details of a specific trail.

This hike starts on Lanzenweg in Going and joins hiking trail no. 6 after about 200 metres. It continues across meadows and through forests to the Hollenauer Kreuz snack station; from there, hiking trail no. 7 leads to Astberg Lake. The approximate distance of 200 metres refers to the section up to hiking trail no. 6.

The Kaiser Mountains are reflected in Astberg Lake. Visitors can sit on a bench there and listen to the birdsong. The tour combines a route through meadows and forests, views of the lake and a quiet moment at the destination. The mountain and lake therefore offer different ways to plan your visit, from a stroll to a hike.

Craft traditions and “Der Bergdoktor”

The craft market is a regular feature of Going’s summer events and has itself become a tradition. It keeps alive almost-forgotten crafts such as Pilotenschlagen, feather quill embroidery, Dogglmachen and woodturning. In some places, visitors can try their hand at an old craft. If the market is an important reason for your trip, check the event dates in advance.

There are also specific connections to Going for fans of the series “Der Bergdoktor”. The village square regularly appears in the series. The Bergdoktor e-bike tour passes the series’ three main filming locations and includes the church square in Going. When planning your trip, you can choose between a bike ride linked to the filming locations and a visit to the village’s other natural and cultural attractions.
