Ischgl offers cultural sites, marked trails, mountain activities and the Silvretta Therme as different ways to shape your stay. If you are looking for hotels in Ischgl, considering your travel interests can help you decide what to visit: art and technology history sit alongside hikes, sports activities and relaxation in the pool and sauna areas.

Culture and History

The Mathias Schmid Museum is dedicated to the painter Mathias Schmid and includes an original Mathias Schmid room dating from 1851. There, you can encounter both the artist and a specific historic space. The Antonius Chapel in Versahl offers a different historical perspective: it was built around 1630 as a plague chapel and enlarged in 1673. Its construction date, original purpose and later expansion are distinct milestones in its history.

The SILVRETTA CABLE CAR MUSEUM focuses on technology. It displays numerous objects and items of equipment from the pioneering days of tourism and traces the development of cable car technology in a child-friendly way. While the Mathias Schmid Museum is dedicated to a painter, this museum focuses on technical objects and the development of cable car technology.

Hiking Trails and Getting Around Without a Car

More than 1,000 kilometres of marked trails in Ischgl range from panoramic and alpine pasture hikes to challenging summit tours and multi-day hut-to-hut routes. These categories help you distinguish between different types of hiking: from outings with panoramic views or alpine pastures to tours with a summit destination or several days spent in mountain huts. Individual routes and conditions can change; take this into account when planning your hike.

Thanks to the summer cable cars and hiking bus, many hiking tours are convenient to reach even without a car. Check the respective operating hours before your trip so you can factor these transport options into your plans.

Mountain Activities and Routes

The Ischgl SKYFLY Zipline is two kilometres long and runs through the Kitzloch Gorge. Its maximum speed is 85 km/h. The length and maximum speed describe different features: the length refers to the route, while the speed is the maximum value. Operating restrictions may change; check the latest operating information before your visit.

The night toboggan run in Ischgl covers seven kilometres and descends 950 metres through the winter landscape into the valley. Unlike the zipline, the elevation figure here describes the descent. The run operates seasonally and depends on conditions. So check in advance whether it will be open during your planned visit.

Vider Truja is located on the Idalp at an altitude of 2,320 metres. The bouldering area has 35 routes of varying difficulty. Vider Truja can be reached in a few minutes from the mountain stations of the Silvrettabahn A1 or the Fimbabahn A3. As access options may change depending on lift operations, check before your visit.

The Ischgl archery course features 28 different 3D targets depicting forest animals. Take the Silvretta or Fimba cable car to the mid-station, then walk for about 20 minutes in the direction of the Heidelberger HĂĽtte. The walking time is approximate; lift operations, trail conditions and operating hours may change. Check the latest information before including the route in your plans.

The Smuggler’s Route runs between Ischgl in Paznaun and the Swiss village of Samnaun in the Engadin, within the Silvretta Arena. It is 61.8 kilometres long and can involve an elevation gain of up to 13,740 metres. The distance and elevation gain describe different measurements of the route. Route options, seasonal conditions and lift operations may change, so checking current conditions is part of planning.

Pools and Sauna

The Silvretta Therme offers more than 1,000 square metres of water area for swimming, relaxing and unwinding, as well as a 1,500-square-metre sauna area. The two area figures refer to different facilities and can help you decide what to focus on during your visit. Services may change; check the latest information when planning a specific visit.
