If you’re looking for a hotel in Inzing, you can plan your trip around the village’s highlights: nativity scenes and churches, historic paths, the Gaisau nature area or seasonal outdoor swimming all offer different ways to explore. Inzing lies at the foot of the gently sloping Rangger Köpfl.

Nativity Scenes, Church and Local History

The church nativity scene is Inzing’s largest and oldest Oriental-style nativity scene. It was created in 1861 by Felix Zimmerling, a hermit from Thaur and pilgrim to Jerusalem. The parish church is home to the veneration of the “Inzing Mother of God”; numerous votive tablets bear witness to the faith of pilgrims from all over Tyrol.

A guide published by the Inzing Nativity Scene Association lists around 50 large nativity scenes in Inzing; the local collection may continue to grow. The nativity scene tradition also shapes the “Bergsegen”: around the Feast of the Visitation on 2 July, local residents meet at one of the chapels in the mid-mountain area in Hof, Gigglberg, Eben or Schindeltal for Mass and a social gathering. The exact date may vary from year to year.

The tower above the church is part of the village’s history and is now known as the “Schlössl.” The Knights of Eben, first mentioned in historical records in 1227, moved into this tower. This connects the village’s history with a specific building and the name it bears today.

Circular Trails and Nature

The Inzing themed trail is an 8-kilometre circular hiking route that starts and ends at the outdoor swimming pool car park. A historic circular route also starts in Inzing, following partly ancient paths to Hof and Toblaten before returning to Inzing. The two routes are described with different navigation details: the themed trail has a stated length and start and end point, while the historic route is defined by its course through the named places and along the old paths. Check local trail conditions before setting out on either route.

The Inzing themed trail recommends the Gaisau wetland and bird sanctuary. The nature reserve is one of the last remaining areas of floodplain forest in the Inn Valley and one of the region’s most important bird-breeding areas. Visitors interested in birdlife and floodplain forest will find a distinctive nature experience here; check local conditions before your visit.

Seasonal Activities and Regional Produce

The Inzing outdoor swimming pool offers open-air swimming and a 9,500-square-metre sunbathing lawn with shade-giving trees. The pool operates seasonally; check the municipality’s latest operating information before visiting.

After the ascent, guests can recharge with a traditional alpine snack at the Inzinger Alm. Opening information is seasonal, so check operating details before your trip. Along the Genuss-Radweg Inntal, 24 stops offer regional products such as honey, spirits and fruit. Participating producers and availability may change; include up-to-date information in your plans.
