Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg in Tirol and Westendorf are located on the sunny plateau of the Brixental in the KitzbĂĽhel Alps, at an elevation of around 800 metres. In Brixental, marked hiking trails, mountain biking and the SkiWelt cater to a range of travel interests, alongside churches, recurring customs and regional specialities. If you are looking for a hotel in Brixental, base your choice on the experiences that matter most during your stay.

Trails between the valley, alpine pastures and peaks

In Brixental, more than 500 kilometres of marked hiking trails wind through valleys and across alpine pastures to scenic peaks at an elevation of 2,450 metres. The hiking landscape is therefore not limited to a single summit destination: valleys and alpine pastures are also part of the trails described. When planning your route, you can also take into account the landscapes you would like to experience along the way.

One specific natural attraction is Filzalmsee in Hochbrixen. It lies at 1,300 metres in a natural alpine landscape with rare animal and plant species. These species can be explored along the panoramic circular trails. The Alpinolino Waterfall Trail has a different character, shaped by its stops: it passes waterfalls, wooden bridges, meadows, forests and a chapel.

Mountain biking, skiing and golf

Brixen im Thale and Westendorf offer direct access to SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental. The Kirchberg Trail is exclusively for mountain bikers and may not be used as a hiking trail. The route, approximately 10 kilometres long, connects the Fleckalmbahn mountain station with the existing Gaisberg trail network. This clear distinction in permitted use is important for your planning when distinguishing between hiking and mountain bike trails.

In Westendorf, an 18-hole woodland golf course lies in the heart of the KitzbĂĽhel Alps. Alongside the trails and the bike trail, a golf course is another specific activity available in Brixental. The Kirchberg Trail is explicitly reserved for mountain biking, while the woodland golf course, with its 18-hole layout, offers a different point of reference for planning your trip.

Churches and recurring customs

The Brixen Deanery Church and St. Nicholas Church in Westendorf offer two distinct historical dates. Construction of the present-day Brixen Deanery Church in Brixen im Thale began in 1790, based on plans by Wolfgang Hagenauer and Andreas Hueber. St. Nicholas Church in Westendorf was first mentioned in an official document in 1320. The comparison distinguishes between two kinds of information: 1790 marks the start of construction of the present-day deanery church, while 1320 marks the first documented mention of St. Nicholas.

The Brixental Antlassritt has taken place in Brixental for more than 300 years and is held every year on Corpus Christi, with decorated horses. The procession travels from Brixen along the main road to Kirchberg and on to the Schwedenkapelle rest area, before returning. For your trip planning, it is worth checking the date of Corpus Christi each year; temporary road closures may occur during the event.

The Brixental Bergleuchten also takes place every year: more than 50,000 torches illuminate the mountainsides of Brixental with a variety of images and motifs. If you would like to include this event in your trip planning, check the date for that year's edition.

Insights into production and regional specialities

At the Erber distillery, visitors can learn about the history of this traditional distillery and the production steps involved in its entire product range, as well as taste its products. Visits and tours are subject to the published operating information and booking instructions; check these in advance if you are planning a visit. Brodakas, a Brixental speciality, is available exclusively at the Westendorf dairy. This offers two different culinary points of interest: Erber brings together history, production processes and tastings, while Brodakas, as a regional speciality, is linked to an exclusive place of sale.
