In Gleiming, a gondola connection to Reiteralm meets several trails that begin in or pass through the village. In winter, you can combine a gondola ride with a winter hike; in summer, you can choose from routes along waterways, through several villages and with panoramic views. You can therefore also choose which hotels to look for based on the activities that will shape your trip.

Silver Jet and facilities at the valley station

The Silver Jet gondola’s valley station is in Gleiming. The ride to Reiteralm in the Schladming-Dachstein ski area takes about five minutes. Check the gondola’s current operating status before your trip. The valley station has ski rental, a ski school, a lounge and restaurants; ask directly about the current availability of these services. There is also ample parking at the valley station.

Winter hike on Reiteralm

A winter hike on Reiteralm begins after taking the Silver Jet up from Gleiming. The trail leads via Pichl back to Gleiming. This tour therefore combines a gondola ride with a hike and a return route through a different village. Snow and operating conditions vary by season; check current conditions and the gondola’s operating status before making plans.

Summer trails and loops from Gleiming

The Mandling Trail is a fairly easy summer hike that starts in Gleiming and follows the Enns and Mandlingbach streams. The route of the Gleiming–Mandling Enns Loop is different: From Gleiming, it passes through Au and Warterdorf, across woodland and meadows, to Mandling. The return route runs close to the Enns and through floodplain forests back to Gleiming. This gives you the choice between a hike along the Enns and Mandlingbach streams and a loop with varied sections through woodland, meadows and floodplain forests.

If you’d like to visit several villages on one loop, the Village Loop passes through Gleiming, Pichl, Grubdörfl, Warterdorf and Audorf; Gleiming can also serve as the starting point. This route offers a different focus from the Mandling Trail, whose description highlights the route along waterways. The villages on the Village Loop can be identified from the named stops.

Another option is the Panorama Loop | 305. It passes through Gleiming and offers panoramic views of the Schladminger Tauern and the Dachstein. So alongside trails along waterways and loops through villages, you can also enjoy views of two named mountain regions.

Getting there and finding a hotel

Postbus route no. 900 connects Gleiming with neighboring villages; the village is also accessible by Postbus from Schladming. A ski bus runs to the Silver Jet valley station. Check the current timetables for your journey, especially for the seasonal ski bus.

When looking for a hotel in Gleiming, your travel dates are a useful starting point: the winter hike on Reiteralm is specific to winter, while the Mandling Trail is described as a summer hike. Then compare the trails by their route—along waterways, through several villages or with panoramic views—and choose the focus that suits your planned days.
