Bad Blumau combines opportunities for walks with the thermal park, several circular trails and cultural attractions. When planning your stay, you can choose from a range of highlights: a walk around the grounds of Rogner Bad Blumau, a circular route with scenic views, the 1,000-year-old oak tree in the district of Bierbaum, or a look at art and local history. Guided options are also available for groups. The routes differ in their loop format, starting point and signage; group activities have their own participant requirements. This lets you make your choice based on specific destinations and the conditions that apply to each.

Thermal Park and Walks

The grounds of Rogner Bad Blumau cover 420,000 m² and invite you to take a walk. The 13-hectare thermal park connects the spa with the town center. A pond system with distinctive coves and stone walls shapes the landscape of the park. Here, an expansive site, the connection between the spa and town center, and a striking feature of the pond landscape come together in different ways. If you would like to explore Bad Blumau on foot, these places offer different points of interest to help you plan your visit.

Circular Trails and Notable Destinations

The Speilbrunnerweg is a circular route with many beautiful views of the idyllic landscape of the Thermen- & Vulkanland region. The Hundertwassertour starts on Bad Blumau's main street, not far from the church, at an elevation of 284 m. The Safentalweg also starts in Bad Blumau. The Thermenrundweg is signposted in both directions for cyclists and hikers. Each route has a different focus: the Speilbrunnerweg highlights its circular route and scenic views, the Hundertwassertour has a precisely located starting point, and the Thermenrundweg is signposted for both user groups.

The 1,000-year-old oak tree in the district of Bierbaum in Bad Blumau is a destination in its own right. It is considered one of the oldest oak trees in Europe and can be reached via the Bad Blumauer Rundwanderweg 3 or the FF8 cycle route. This allows you to combine your visit with either a named hiking trail or a cycling route. If the oak tree is your main destination, the two approaches differ right down to their names: the Rundwanderweg 3 on the one hand and the FF8 cycle route on the other.

The “Zukunft spazierendenken” experience trail has 11 walkable stations. A circular route links them through the town of Bad Blumau, the thermal park and Rogner Bad Blumau. Unlike a single trail marker, the focus here is on a sequence of several stations: they can be explored on foot and are linked by the circular route.

Art, Church and Group Activities

The “Water Goddess” is a plant sculpture by artist André Heller. It was created in honor of his late friend and fellow artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Another cultural and historical landmark is the parish church of Saint Sebastian: it was built in 1702/1703 and is dedicated to the Roman officer and martyr Sebastian. Bad Blumau is therefore home both to a sculpture with a personal dedication and to a church with a documented construction date and named patron saint.

There are group activities with clear requirements. By prior arrangement, Rauers Vitaminreich offers tours of its organic vegetable and sprout cultivation for groups of five or more. At Schwalbenhof, groups of five to 20 people can book garden tours. Cooking and baking classes for groups of up to seven people are also offered there. The group sizes vary by activity: the tour at Rauers Vitaminreich has a minimum group size, the garden tour at Schwalbenhof has a specified range, and the classes there have a maximum group size. Check availability before your trip; advance booking is required at Rauers Vitaminreich.
