If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay in Anthering, local attractions can help you plan your trip: they range from swing trails and nature observation to milling traditions and late Gothic architecture. The herb garden, outdoor swimming pool, and cycle routes also offer a variety of options. Consider which of these interests you’d like to pursue during your stay.

Two Routes on the Anthering Swing Trail

The red route on the Anthering Swing Trail is 4 km long and follows an out-and-back path to six varied swing stations. The green route is a 1 km paved circular trail with no inclines and features three swings. The routes’ layouts and lengths offer a clear comparison: a longer out-and-back route with more stations versus a shorter, flat loop. The number of swings also differs. You can factor the routes into your plans based on their length, layout, and stations.

Anthering Floodplain and Trails Along the Salzach

The Anthering floodplain is a protected natural area with a scenic landscape and diverse wildlife. It includes a beaver pond and rare bird species such as the kingfisher and grey-headed woodpecker. The trail through the floodplain reaches the Salzach, where you can continue walking along the riverbank. If you enjoy continuing your walk by the water, this offers a clear point of reference for planning your route.

There is parking available at Anthering local railway station for visits to the Anthering floodplain. The local railway connects Anthering with Salzburg every half hour. If you plan to travel by train, check the timetable before setting off.

FuchsmĂĽhle Mill and Parish Church

Fuchsmühle mill on the Achartinger Bach uses hydropower to grind grain. It was first mentioned in writing in 1638 and is one of Europe’s last Rückschüttmühlen mills. Here, history and function go hand in hand: the mill is notable both for its long written record and for grinding grain using hydropower.

Anthering’s parish church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and is one of the oldest churches in the Salzburg region. The present building dates from the 15th century and is characterised by late Gothic architecture. The church therefore offers a different historical focus from the mill: here, the dedication and architecture take centre stage, while at the mill the focus is on hydropower and grain milling.

Herb Garden and Outdoor Swimming Pool

Around 350 labelled medicinal plants grow across an area of more than 1,000 m² in the Anthering herb garden. The traditional herb garden festival “Maria Wurzweih” takes place on 15 August. If you’d like to plan your trip around the festival, check the exact dates in advance.

The heated Anthering outdoor swimming pool is in the town centre. It has a separate children’s pool and several play facilities. This makes it another specific leisure option to consider alongside the trails and the town’s cultural and historical attractions.

Cycling and Beer from the On-Site Brewery

From Anthering, you can join the Mozart Cycle Route and the Salzkammergut Cycle Route. Both routes are relevant options when planning a cycling trip; their specific lengths are not compared here. Consider which cycle route suits your plans, and find out about the route in advance.

Raggei-Bräu is a brewery inn at the foot of the Haunsberg in Anthering and offers beers brewed on site. Its selection includes more than 20 speciality beers; the range may change. Raggei-Bräu thus combines a specific address in Anthering with an emphasis on its own brewery.
