Hiking trails and downhill runs are at the heart of the Fulseck, while the Spiegelsee lake can be reached via a short hiking trail. The history of the Gastein Valley and the Entrische Kirche cave also offer different topics to consider when planning your trip. You can take these highlights into account when choosing a hotel.

Hiking Trails and Spiegelsee Lake

The Fulseck is 2,033 metres high and a destination as well as a starting point for many easy and alpine hikes. There are 17 officially marked hiking trails there. One circular route described in detail is the Kleine Gipfeltour (Little Summit Tour): it starts at the mountain station of the Gipfelbahn Fulseck cable car, follows a path to the Keeskopf, and then continues to the Fulseck. The circular route is listed as taking about 20 minutes. This gives you an idea of how much time to allow for this short tour without confusing it with the other trails.

The Spiegelsee is a reservoir on the Fulseck at an altitude of around 1,800 metres, near the mountain station of the Gipfelbahn Fulseck cable car. A short hiking trail leads to the lake. One special feature of the barefoot trail around the Spiegelsee is that it runs partly through the water. Both its elevation and location near the mountain station, as well as the specific route of the trail, are defining features of this place.

Downhill Routes of Different Lengths

The downhill route for a three-wheeled mountain cart runs 4.8 kilometres from the Fulseck mountain station to the middle station, covering a descent of more than 500 metres. The Fulseck also has a 10-kilometre MTB singletrack that runs from the mountain station of the Gipfelbahn Fulseck cable car to the middle station of the Panoramabahn cable car. These details describe different activities and routes. For the mountain cart, the downhill route and elevation difference are specified; for the singletrack, the length and endpoints are given.

Skiing and Seasonal Information

The Dorfgastein–Großarltal ski area offers 70 kilometres of pistes for beginners and experts. The extent of the pistes and operating schedules may change from season to season. So if skiing is important to your trip, check the information for your planned travel dates.

Cave and History of the Gastein Valley

The Entrische Kirche is a large cave in Klamm limestone. It is partly a dry cave, a dripstone cave and a water cave, and is located in the Luxkogel at an altitude of 1,040 metres above the Klammstein district. The different types of cave give this place a geological focus alongside the hiking and downhill activities on the Fulseck.

Klammstein Castle is a historical landmark: it served as the administrative centre of the Gastein Valley until 1520. Together with the cave, the castle offers a different perspective on the destinations mentioned here than the routes and elevation details of the activities. When comparing hotels in Dorfgastein, you can use these different interests as a guide when planning your trip.
