Warth – Hiking, Cycling and History
Accommodation in Warth
Warth offers a range of interests to consider when planning a trip: marked trails through forested countryside, cycling along the Pitten, and historic castle complexes. Concerts, festivals and markets are also part of local cultural life. If you’re looking for a hotel in Warth, the purpose of your trip can help you decide whether the destination is right for you.
Hiking Trails and Scenic Views
Marked hiking trails lead through Warth’s forested countryside. Along the way, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Bucklige Welt and the Rax, Schneeberg and Wechsel regions. This brings together two aspects of the landscape: the forest setting of the trails and views of these regions. If hiking is a priority for you, you can take both into account when deciding whether to visit Warth.
Cycling in Warth
Cyclists have further specific points of reference. EuroVelo 9 passes through the municipality of Warth, following a scenic route along the Pitten. Check the route again before setting out. Scheiblingkirchen-Warth railway station is listed as a public transport access point for the Haßbachtal E-Bike Route. E-bike charging stations are available in Warth at the market square, at Café-Bäckerei Fischböck and at Siaß'n Eck.
This information answers different planning questions: EuroVelo 9 follows the Pitten, while the Haßbachtal E-Bike Route has the access point listed above. The charging stations provide further guidance for e-bike travellers in Warth. Also check connections and charging station availability in advance.
Castles and History
Steyersberg Castle, also known as Feste Steußberg, was probably built in the last third of the 12th century. In 1600, Ehrenreich Wurmbrand-Stuppach acquired Steyersberg Castle and thereby assumed what was known as “Vollherrschaft” (full lordship). The small castle was subsequently expanded into a spacious, comfortable residence.
Haßbach Castle Ruins also have their own historical context: their origins are thought to date back to a 10th-century residential tower. The ruins are located directly above Haßbach. Kirchau Castle Ruins, meanwhile, lie in the forest and are overgrown with trees. These three places offer different historical points of interest: a probable 12th-century origin and later expansion at Steyersberg, a possible early origin as a residential tower at Haßbach, and the forest setting and overgrowth of Kirchau Castle Ruins.
Concerts, Festivals and Markets
Local cultural life includes concerts by local music bands and choirs. Various festivals and markets also take place throughout the year; dates vary from one event to another. If a particular concert, festival or market is important to your trip, check the event dates before planning your stay.
Choose Warth as Your Destination
To decide whether Warth is a good fit for your trip, weigh up its different highlights: hiking and scenic views, a cycling route, the history of its castles, or a specific cultural event. If you’re looking for a hotel in Warth, the purpose of your trip is a good starting point when choosing your destination.
