Hiking and Mountain Scenery
The Schneeberg near Puchberg attracts mountaineers, climbers and hikers; in winter, it is a popular destination for ski tourers. The Sebastian Waterfall can also be visited as a destination in its own right, and various hikes start from there. The waterfall is about a 20-minute walk from the car park on Wasserfallweg. The local circular hiking trail leads directly from the spa gardens to Puchberg station. The Bahnhofsgalerie is located on the station’s first floor.

Travelling on the Schneeberg Railway
The Schneeberg Railway first travelled to the Schneeberg in 1897. The Salamander train reaches the Hochschneeberg mountain station at an altitude of 1,800 metres; from Puchberg, the Schneeberg’s high plateau can be reached by train. This gives you a choice of different ways to plan your trip, including hiking trails, a train ride and the mountain plateau.

Skiing facilities in Losenheim include the Salamander chairlift, the Salamander drag lift and the children’s area. These facilities are described as family-friendly.
Culture and Local History
The Schneeberg Museum in Puchberg covers everyday life, crafts and trades, as well as the history and development of the area. Groups must book in advance outside regular opening hours.
St. Vitus Parish Church was originally a Late Gothic building, destroyed by earthquakes and fires. Additions and extensions changed its appearance. The listed Schneeberger Säge, with its Venetian saw gate, is the region’s last sawmill largely preserved in its original condition. The cog railway exhibition is housed in a former ÖBB shed at Puchberg station.
