Poysbrunn lies in a narrow valley in the Falkenstein Hills. The village offers a range of reasons to visit: fairytale figures and listening stations, the castle and its documented history, cultural events at the Old School, and trails through the Franzbergen wine cellar lane and along the Märchensommerallee. Depending on whether you are interested in fairytales, culture or getting active, you can give these themes different weight when choosing your stay.

Fairytale Figures and Stories Around the Village

As a fairytale village, Poysbrunn features fairytale motifs in various locations. Fairytale figures and depictions by different artists can be seen along the main street and the Märchensommerallee. An oversized Frog Prince figure welcomes visitors at the southern entrance to Poysbrunn, coming from the direction of Poysdorf. Fairytale stations with QR codes are located along the main street, along the Märchensommerallee and at the fairytale storytelling site. This means you can listen to the fairytales directly on your smartphone at any time. A guided fairytale walk also leads to the storytelling site and includes a fairytale reading and an ice cream to finish. The stations offer stories to listen to; the walk also includes a guide and a reading. In total, there are more than 50 fairytale figures and artistic depictions.

Castle History and Culture

Poysbrunn Castle was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century as “Veste Bozesbrunn.” The Lower Austrian Fairytale Summer has been held at the castle since 2008. Cultural life in Poysbrunn also thrives in the theater hall at the Old School. The “Märchendorf Poysbrunn” association offers cultural performances for all ages several times a year. Together, these provide different cultural connections: the castle’s historical mention, a recurring event at the castle and a dedicated theater hall in the village. If culture is a deciding factor for you, you can take these places and events into account alongside the fairytale theme.

Trails, Wine Cellar Lane and Rest Stop

When choosing a route, it is worth looking at the different descriptions. The 3-Schwestern-Weg passes through the Franzbergen wine cellar lane and along the Märchensommerallee. Via a path and then the road, it reaches the eastern edge of Poysbrunn. The wine cellar lane features an impressive collection of wine cellars; it is both a named section of this route and a point of interest in its own right. On the Märchen.rad.route, numerous fairytale figures await discovery along the way in Poysbrunn. The routes offer different highlights: the 3-Schwestern-Weg takes in the wine cellar lane, the avenue and the eastern edge of the village, while the cycle route focuses on fairytale figures along the way. At Schwemmplatz, the drinking fountain serves as a rest stop and offers refreshment to people exploring the surrounding cycling and hiking trails. Alongside the fairytale and cultural attractions, you can therefore also find specific routes to suit your interests during your stay.
