Blindenmarkt offers two tangible focal points for planning a trip: the Ausee lake area, with bathing lakes and walking trails, and the cultural events of the Herbsttage festival. If you are looking for a hotel in Blindenmarkt, you can consider whether your stay should focus mainly on spending time by the water, following a themed route or attending a cultural programme with set dates. Three bathing lakes, two trails with different destinations, rail connections and a festival announced for 2026 provide concrete guidance.

Ausee lake area: water and walking trails

The Ausee lake area in Blindenmarkt includes three bathing lakes in a natural recreation area; the water quality is excellent. Trails around the Ausee lakes invite you to go for a walk. The area also has a beach volleyball court and a table tennis table. This gives you different ways to plan your time by the water: go for a walk, spend time at the bathing lakes or use the two sports facilities. Before your visit, check whether the beach volleyball court and table tennis table are available, as facilities may change.

Trails with different focuses

The Blindenmarkt Kneipp hiking trail leads to a Kneipp herb garden and a water basin for Kneipp treatments. These two destinations give the trail a clear Kneipp focus: the herb garden and water basin represent different aspects of the theme. This sets the route apart from the walking trails around the Ausee lakes. If you choose a route based on its theme, the two Kneipp stations provide a clear point of reference.

The Ybbsfeld Trail has a different focus. It passes Schloss Auhof, runs along Ausee IV and goes through the floodplain forest. After crossing the Ybbs at the Hohe BrĂĽcke, the trail heads back towards Blindenmarkt, the Ausee lakes and finally the town centre. The route therefore takes in the lake and floodplain forest, as well as the river crossing and the stretch towards the town centre. By comparison, the Kneipp hiking trail leads to the herb garden and water basin: the difference when choosing a trail lies in its theme and route.

Getting to the Kneipp hiking trail

You can reach the Kneipp hiking trail by taking the Westbahn train to Blindenmarkt station or the regional bus to Blindenmarkt Ortsmitte stop. Blindenmarkt station is on the Westbahn line; Regional Express trains to Amstetten and Wien Westbahnhof stop here. When planning your journey, you can consider the best stop for the trail separately from the rail connection you want to take. Check the current timetables before setting off.

Herbsttage cultural events

The 37th edition of the Herbsttage Blindenmarkt was announced for 2 to 26 October 2026. The “Concert for Everyone” is a regular part of the Herbsttage and was announced for the seventh time in 2026. The town’s cultural offerings therefore include both a set event period and a specific programme item. If you would like to tie your trip to a particular event, check its date.
