Accommodation in Niederhollabrunn
Niederhollabrunn combines a long parish history with trails through the hilly Weinviertel landscape. Different highlights can shape your travel plans: the Baroque parish church, Michelberg on the Weinviertel Way of St. James, and cycling routes through the market town. There are also recurring events and practical information for getting here. This lets you combine culture, activity and a suitable pace for your stay in Niederhollabrunn.
Church History, Literature and Historic Sites
The Baroque parish church is dedicated to St. Lawrence, the martyred deacon. The Niederhollabrunn parish was first mentioned in a document in 1135; at the same time, the town is one of the oldest settlements and parishes on the left bank of the Danube. The palace-monastery complex is located at Kirchenplatz 2. In the Federal Monuments Authority’s list dated 23 June 2026, it is listed as a protected monument; the list is not legally binding.
Theodor Kramer was born in Niederhollabrunn on 1 January 1897. The Theodor Kramer soundwalk begins at a commemorative plaque outside his birthplace and leads through the surrounding landscape, accompanied by Kramer’s texts. For a literary walk, both the memorial at the starting point and the texts along the way are part of the route.
The Leeberg, a burial mound from the Hallstatt period, lies northwest of Niederhollabrunn. It adds an archaeological point of interest to the town’s religious and literary landmarks.
Michelberg and Walking Trails
Niederhollabrunn is set in the hilly Weinviertel landscape. Michelberg, on the Weinviertel Way of St. James, is in the Haselbach district. At 409 m, it is the highest elevation in the Rohrwald and a popular viewpoint in the market town. The fourth, 25.7 km stage of the Weinviertel Way of St. James also passes over Michelberg near Niederhollabrunn. This distance refers to the entire stage; Michelberg lies along its route.
The Panorama Trail offers another way to hike and walk in the market town. Route details are available via downloadable maps. If you would like to combine your stay with the Way of St. James, the stage length provides a concrete planning reference; the Panorama Trail is listed as a separate walking option.
Cycling Routes and Finding Your Way Around
The Tumulus Cycling Route passes through Niederhollabrunn and is suitable for trekking bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes. A burial mound can be visited along the route east of the town. The “Around Kreuzenstein Castle” cycling route also passes through Niederhollabrunn; a short detour from it leads to the drinking fountain by the municipal office. These different points of interest can help you choose between the routes: the Tumulus Cycling Route lists several suitable bike types and the burial mound, while the route around Kreuzenstein Castle features the short detour to the drinking fountain.
The Rastplatzl Traubengarten rest stop is located in the Hollingstein vineyard in Niederhollabrunn.
