Discover Krumpendorf
Accommodation in Krumpendorf
Krumpendorf offers several distinct options for planning your day: time at Parkbad, hikes with named stages, a mountain bike route and cultural events. If you are looking for a hotel in Krumpendorf, your choice of activities can help determine which daily schedule suits your stay. The trail distances and stated duration help distinguish between the two hikes described.
Parkbad and water sports
At Parkbad Krumpendorf, the facilities include large sunbathing lawns with mature trees, as well as a bocce court and a beach volleyball court. In the water, there are 100-metre swimming lanes in the lake, a swimming island, a water trampoline, a water volleyball court and a diving tower. Table tennis, a children’s playground, and areas for children and non-swimmers round out the options. Parkbad is wheelchair accessible and offers free Wi-Fi.
If you are considering different watercraft in addition to swimming and the facilities on land, the SEEsport watersports school at Parkbad offers four rental options: SUPs, kayaks, pedal boats and deluxe electric boats. The selection thus ranges from boards and kayaks to pedal boats and electric boats. Seasonal activities at Parkbad are another option for planning your day: the 2026 programme offers yoga, archery and aqua aerobics with professional instructors. Programme details may change from season to season.
Hikes and trails
At 6.7 km, the Castle Hike is the shorter of the two hikes described. It is rated easy and takes 150 minutes. The starting point is the Tourist Information Office; from there, the route follows the Höhenweg to the Suezecke viewpoint, continues to Hornstein Castle and Drasing Castle, then returns to Krumpendorf via Almweg and Lannerweg. The route also passes Krumpendorf Castle on the main road.
The Krumpendorf Long-Distance Hiking Trail is 16.20 km long and loops back to its starting point at Parkbad. Its sequence of named points begins in the direction of Leinsdorf, leads through the forest to the West viewpoint and continues to Pirkerkogel at an elevation of 663 m. The route then passes Wirtnigteich, Nußberg and Görtschach. Compared with the Castle Hike, the long-distance trail is longer; the Castle Hike is the one with an explicitly stated duration. When planning a hike, bear in mind that trail conditions can change.
For mountain biking, there is the marked Krumpendorf Panorama Loop, a circular route starting at Parkbad. Another walking trail runs from the boat landing along Pamperlallee, past Parkbad, via Wasserweg in the direction of Pirk and on to Pirkerkogel. In the Waldarena, the 600 m-long Yolates Trail combines elements of yoga and Pilates with exercises from the Far East and meditation. The trails therefore differ not only in how you travel along them, but also in their described stops and focus.
Krumpendorf also has two well-developed glacial potholes, both natural features: one is in Pritschitz and the other in the forest in the direction of Görtschach. They are separate points to include in your plans; the hiking trail descriptions outline their routes separately.
Events and culture
The Krumpendorf Summer Market takes place annually from mid-May to the end of August, on Fridays from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., in the area around Rathauswiese and Schlossallee. Seasonal dates may vary. So if you plan to make the market a regular part of your itinerary, check the dates for the relevant season. KulturKlima Krumpendorf offers visitors concerts spanning different musical genres. The programme also includes theatre, film screenings and exhibitions.
There are several different options for your stay: a day of swimming and water sports, a hike along a set route, the mountain bike loop, or an evening of culture or at the market. The specific route details help you compare the hikes by distance, route and stated duration; seasonal activities can be planned around their respective dates.
