Reifnitz on Lake Wörthersee combines water activities, trails and historical points of interest. The options appeal to different travel interests; when planning, consider not only your main focus but also your dates and the season.

Water on Lake Wörthersee

The Reifnitz lido is on the southern shore of Lake Wörthersee and is especially popular with families. Wassersportcenter Reifnitz OG - Mureny offers water skiing, monoskiing, banana boat rides, tube rides, parasailing, as well as electric and pedal boats. Motorboats and a boat taxi are also listed for the period from May to October. If you include one of these activities in your travel plans, check availability for your specific dates; the listed period is relevant to motorboats and the boat taxi.

Paddling tours can start from Reifnitz and head to Klagenfurt or follow the quieter southern shore to Maria Wörth. This gives you a choice between a named destination and a route along the southern shore. Access and rental conditions may change; check them in advance if you are planning a specific paddling tour.

Trails and Orientation

The Mairenkenweg runs along the Bachpromenade in Reifnitz. The Slow Trail Schaukelweg (St. Margarethen Loop) offers a different experience: swings and hammocks invite you to relax, and you can explore the ruins of Reifnitz Castle along the route. This gives you a clear distinction when choosing: the Mairenkenweg is described as following the stream, while the Slow Trail focuses on places to relax and the castle ruins as specific points of interest.

The Sekirn Loop follows Süduferstraße, passes Hubertus Church and the Weißteiche ponds, and returns to Reifnitz. Its description therefore names specific waypoints as well as the starting and return point. The Five-Church Pilgrimage also goes to Reifnitz and mentions Hubertus Church, but in a different role: the pilgrimage begins there with a devotional service before continuing through the forest. By contrast, the Sekirn Loop is described by way of Süduferstraße, the church and the Weißteiche ponds.

Church, Heritage Protection and Dates

The heritage protection list dated June 19, 2026, includes both the Catholic branch church of St. Margarethen in Reifnitz and Klein Miramar Castle in Reifnitz as protected sites. These two named buildings add a historical focus to interests in trails and water.

The Five-Church Pilgrimage begins with a devotional service at Hubertus Church in Sekirn and continues through the forest to Reifnitz. The parish description from 2019 lists the date as every third Sunday in September. If you would like to plan your trip around the pilgrimage, check whether this schedule is still current for your travel year.

Reifnitz is also associated with the GTI Treffen, which has drawn fans of classic German cars to Lake Wörthersee since 1982. If the event is important to your stay, check the specific dates when planning your trip.

Search for a Hotel Based on Your Travel Plans

Start your search for a hotel in Reifnitz by considering your travel dates and the main focus of your stay. For water sports, the seasonal information and access conditions are relevant to your plans; for the pilgrimage, the September date matters. If you would rather explore a route, you can choose between the trail along the Bachpromenade, the Slow Trail with swings, hammocks and castle ruins, and the Sekirn Loop with its named waypoints.
