Jennersdorf is one of the municipalities in the Raab-Örség-Goričko Nature Park. The park is one of six nature parks in Burgenland and Europe’s only trilateral nature park. Alongside its natural environment and landscape, Jennersdorf also offers a parish church, a named guided city tour, an outdoor swimming pool, and a bicycle and e-bike rental station.

Nature Park and Landscape

The Jennersdorf hills are an extension of the southeastern Styrian hills. This area stretches from the state border with Styria to Wallendorf and Mogersdorf. The Jennersdorf hills slope, more or less steeply, into the plains of the Raab and Lafnitz valleys. The town’s location within the park places Jennersdorf in a wider natural region; the hills and valley describe the terrain and the transition between them.

An oak-hornbeam forest is located on the western and northwestern slopes of the table mountain near Jennersdorf. This adds a precisely named forest type in a specific location to the broader description of the landscape. The natural region can therefore be understood in terms of both its hills and valley plain, and a specific landscape feature.

City History and Getting Around

Jennersdorf Parish Church is dedicated to Saint Wenceslas, Duke of Bohemia (908–935), and was built in 1780. The dates refer to different things: 1780 marks the construction of the church, while 908–935 are the saint’s dates of life. The building’s construction date and dedication can thus be considered as two distinct aspects.

The guided tour “City & Sterz – Discover Jennersdorf” meets at Jennersdorf railway station, 8380 Jennersdorf. The station is therefore a specific landmark for the tour. As the schedule may vary, check the date for your travel period in advance. The church and the tour offer different points of interest for culture enthusiasts: one is a building with a date and dedication, while the other is a named activity with a meeting point and scheduled date.

Outdoor Pool and Cycling Services

Jennersdorf outdoor pool has a 30,000 m² sunbathing area. The pools include a 50 m sports pool, a diving pool and a leisure pool for toddlers. There is also a leisure pool with a current channel and a wide water slide. The names distinguish the sports and diving pools from the pool for toddlers; the current channel and slide are additional features of the leisure pool. The sunbathing area is a separate part of the facility. As opening times may vary by season, check before your trip whether a visit fits your schedule.

Jennersdorf also has a bicycle and e-bike rental station with a charging station. You can rent e-bikes there or charge your own bicycle. These are two distinct services: renting an e-bike on site and charging your own bicycle. Which one is relevant to you depends on whether you are bringing a bike or planning to rent one. Check availability before you arrive.
