Explore Yarram and find hotels
Accommodation in Yarram
Yarram offers a range of options for a stay: street art, a gallery and events, as well as routes and recreational facilities. If you’re looking for a hotel in Yarram, you can start by considering whether art, an event or outdoor activities will shape your stay. The following places and routes show how these focuses differ.
Street art in Yarram
The Yarram Water Tower was painted by Heesco Khosnaran in April 2023. The lower section was painted by GUNAIKURANI Elder Sandra Patten. Heesco Town is on a different scale: the series includes more than 25 murals in Yarram, painted by street artist and silo artist Heesco Khosnaran. It transformed the town’s previously bare walls into colourful street art.
The Water Tower focuses on the painted structure and the design of its lower section, while Heesco Town refers to an entire series. This lets you distinguish between a single mural and a larger street art project as different aspects of art in Yarram.
Gallery and local history
The Yarram Courthouse Gallery is a community art space in Yarram, in the state of Victoria. It is located in a heritage-listed former courthouse, the former Yarram Magistrates Court. Exhibitions at the Courthouse Art Gallery change monthly. Visits to exhibitions and the building’s former function as a courthouse therefore bring together different cultural themes.
The Yarram Visitor Information Centre is located in the original courthouse in the centre of town. This central location is another clear local reference point when finding your way around Yarram.
Events at the Regent Theatre
The Regent Theatre in Yarram is a venue for live performances, concerts, film screenings, conferences and events. Its programme ranges from stage and music events to film and conferences. When planning your trip, you can choose the venue based on the occasion: a performance or concert makes for a different focus than a conference.
Routes and their destinations
The Tarra Trail starts at the Yarram Wetlands and runs for 14 km as a side route to Port Albert; it is considered an excellent cycling route for families. At 131 km, the Great Southern Rail Trail is considerably longer. It runs between Nyora and Yarram and ends at Tarra Trail Reserve in Yarram. The routes therefore differ both in length and in their stated destinations.
Tarra Trail Reserve has scenic wetlands, a pump track and picnic areas. Yarram Wetland Park has a basketball court, a fitness park and a skate park. The recreational options thus range from wetlands and picnic areas to facilities for different kinds of physical activity.
If you’re planning an overnight stay in Yarram, these differences can help you decide what to focus on during your trip: street art and changing exhibitions, an event, or one of the routes and recreational options described above.
