If you’re looking for a hotel in Lebrina, one question can help you choose your destination: are you mainly interested in guided wine tastings, particular grape varieties, or agricultural production? The offerings have different focuses. Apogee Tasmania combines a guided tasting of four wines with hors d’œuvres; Brook Eden Vineyard names four grape varieties for its tastings, while Clover Hill Wines showcases its unique multi-vintage approach. Fork it Farm adds charcuterie and regenerative agriculture to these themes.

Tastings with different focuses

At the Apogee Tasmania cellar door, a guided tasting of four wines is offered with hors d’œuvres. The winery also produces sparkling wine using the Traditional Method, as well as table wines made from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris. You can consider the tasting format and wine production as distinct aspects: the tasting focuses on guidance and food pairings, while production focuses on wine categories and grape varieties.

At the Brook Eden Vineyard cellar door, you can taste Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Rosé. The winery also produces cool-climate still and sparkling wines. Compared with Apogee, the specific point of comparison here is the range of grape varieties available for tasting; at Apogee, it is the guided format and the hors d’œuvres pairing. You can then choose whether you’re more interested in particular varieties or in the format and accompaniment of a tasting.

The Clover Hill Wines cellar door offers tastings that showcase the winery’s unique multi-vintage approach. Vineyard tours are also available and require reservations. Head chef Tanya White puts together a selection of small dishes to complement the wine with distinctive flavour combinations. Visitor arrangements at all three cellar doors may change; check the current conditions before your trip. Clover Hill’s menu details may also change.

Vineyards and agriculture

Brook Eden Vineyard’s vineyards lie on an ancient ridge with deep, gravelly, well-drained volcanic soil. Pipers Brook flows along one side, while a spring-fed native wetland lies on the other. These landscape features complement the tasting and production details with information about the vineyard’s soil and surroundings.

Fork it Farm is a 44-hectare regenerative farm in Lebrina. Charcuterie is made there naturally, without curing agents, preservatives, artificial flavours or artificial colours. More than 1,300 native trees have been planted on the property; there is also a wildlife corridor around Pipers Brook. Farming methods, food production and the trees on the property are distinct aspects of the farm. If you’re interested in agricultural production and regenerative agriculture as well as wine, Fork it Farm offers a separate focus.
