Perisher Valley combines winter sports with trails through alpine landscapes. The valley is one of four distinct areas of Perisher Ski Resort. If you’re looking for a hotel, you can plan your trip around the activities that interest you: downhill runs and terrain parks, snow play for families, or walking and snowshoeing tours. Access and seasonal conditions are also important to consider when planning.

Skiing and Snow Play in Perisher

Perisher Ski Resort has more than 100 groomed runs, 45 lifts and four terrain parks. Figures and park configurations may change; check the latest overview if this information is important to your travel decision. Perisher has a dedicated area for children and families to toboggan and play in the snow. Its operation depends on daily snow and weather conditions. If you’re travelling with children, you can include this area in your plans and check the conditions for the day.

The cross-country trails of the Perisher Valley Range also shape the winter experience. They pass through scenic landscapes and past snow gums that have an almost ghostly appearance. The trails offer another way to experience the alpine landscape, distinct from the groomed runs and terrain parks. Which of these activities you focus on can shape your trip plans.

Walking Trails and Alpine Landscapes

The Snowies Alpine Walk connects the alpine destinations of Guthega, Perisher Valley and Charlotte Pass. Another named route is the Charlotte Pass Village to Perisher Valley walk, which passes through alpine valleys and rugged landscapes in Kosciuszko National Park. Views include high-country plains, snow-covered mountain ranges and clear-flowing rivers. The routes and landscapes offer different points of reference when choosing a walk; no walking time is provided here for these trails.

The short, family-friendly Porcupine walk is near Perisher in Kosciuszko National Park. For a snowshoeing trip, the Rock Creek snowshoe track starts in Perisher Village. From there, it passes through a treeless frost hollow along Rock Creek, then loops through an open snow gum forest. Snow cover and seasonal access may change, so check current conditions before setting out.

A seasonal closure of a particular trail is also relevant when planning for winter: the Perisher Valley to Bullocks Flat walk is closed between June and October because it crosses cross-country ski trails. Weather and management conditions may change; check the latest track information before setting out. This closure applies to the named trail and should be considered when choosing your route.

Getting There and Planning

Road conditions and closures may change, so include the latest information in your travel plans.
