For a stay in Mystery Bay, walking trails, coastal scenery and a historic site offer different points of reference. A one-kilometre loop leads from Mystery Bay Campground to Billy's Beach; the Mystery Bay to 1080 Beach Walk has two possible starting points. There is also the Mystery Bay lookout in Eurobodalla National Park and the Historic Mystery Bay Velodrome. You can plan outings according to whether you prefer a beach loop, a walk with a choice of starting point, a lookout or a historic destination.

Scenery and points of reference

The Mystery Bay lookout is in the southern part of Eurobodalla National Park. A paved car park is available at the lookout. If you include the lookout in your day’s plans, the car park is a useful point of reference. Mystery Bay Campground is set in native bushland, overlooks the beach and is surrounded by the national park. As its operations may change, check current operating information if you include the campground in your travel plans.

Billy's Beach is a significant Indigenous site. Headlands enclose the beach, and the surrounding bushland protects it from the wind. Here, the landscape and cultural significance come together at one destination. Boat Harbour Point, a rocky headland connected by a sandbar, is also near Mystery Bay.

Walks and beach destinations

The loop from Mystery Bay Campground to Billy's Beach is one kilometre long. The Mystery Bay to 1080 Beach Walk starts either at the beach car park at the end of Mystery Bay Road or at the entrance to Eurobodalla National Park on Lamont Young Drive in Mystery Bay. The two walks therefore differ both in destination and starting point: the Billy's Beach loop begins at the campground, while the walk to 1080 Beach offers two starting points.

The walks address different planning needs. If you prefer a manageable loop, the one-kilometre walk to Billy's Beach gives you a specific distance. For the walk to 1080 Beach, you can choose between two starting points, depending on where you would like to begin your walk. Located near Mystery Bay, 1080 Beach is suitable for surfing, fishing and picnicking with a view. You can include these beach activities as a separate part of your travel plans.

The Historic Mystery Bay Velodrome

Another scenic loop leads from Mystery Bay through the campground to the Historic Mystery Bay Velodrome. Built in 1892, the velodrome is considered one of the few surviving cycling tracks from the 19th century. This walk therefore has a different destination from the routes to the beaches: its focus is a historic sporting facility with a clear connection to cycling history. If you are interested in sports history, the velodrome offers a specific point of interest alongside Mystery Bay’s scenic and beach destinations.
