If you want to choose between sacred architecture, early history, crafts and nature in Tây Ninh, you will find several clearly distinct themes. The Óc-Eo towers point to an early building culture; Cao-Đài and Khmer sites reveal other religious and architectural traditions. Forests and wetlands, an artificial lake and an amusement park round out the picture. For your planning, it helps to first decide which of these aspects you want to shape your stay.

Óc-Eo Towers and Religious Architecture

Chót Mạt Tower was built around the 8th century AD as a structure of the Óc-Eo culture and is one of three surviving temple towers in southern Vietnam. The ancient Bình Thạnh Tower is also a surviving architectural monument of this culture and ranks among the valuable ancient architectural monuments of Tây Ninh and Vietnam. It is located in Ấp Bình Phú, Xã Bình Thạnh, Trảng Bàng.

The Tòa thánh Cao Đài Tây Ninh was built from 1933 and completed in 1955. The complex includes the Holy See, the Phật-Mẫu Temple and a stupa. So it is worth looking not only at the main building but also at the different parts of the complex. There is a specific footwear rule for your visit: visitors may not enter the Tòa thánh wearing shoes. Visitor rules can change, so check the requirement again before your visit.

Chùa Khedol showcases traditional Khmer architecture and preserves the cultural identity of the Khmer community. It was founded in 1811; its Pali name is Botumkirirangsey, meaning “the splendor of the lotus blossom near the mountain.” The Khmer pagoda hosts the Chol Chnam Thmay, Sen Dolta, Ok Om Bok and Kathina festivals each year. Check the festival dates locally if you would like to plan your trip around them.

Chùa Thiền Lâm, also known as Chùa Gò Kén, likewise blends Eastern and Western cultural influences in its architecture, giving it a style that is both classical and modern. It is more than 100 years old and was built as the earliest temple in Tây Ninh.

Another cultural event takes place at Núi Bà Đen: the festival honoring Bà Linh Sơn Thánh Mẫu is held on the fifth and sixth days of the fifth lunar month. It has been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage since September 4, 2018. Because the date follows the lunar calendar, check the corresponding date for your travel year.

Forests, Wetlands and Excursion Destinations

Lò Gò–Xa Mát National Park has been designated an ASEAN Heritage Park. The Trảng Tà Nốt observation tower is 32 meters high and offers views over forests and wetlands.

Hồ Dầu Tiếng is an artificial lake and is considered a destination for excursions, with peaceful scenery, rocky reefs and small islands. Nearby, Chàng Riệc Forest offers visitors fresh natural air and the opportunity to explore ancient trees in the surrounding area.

At Núi Bà Đen, the Vân Sơn cable car takes visitors from the foot of the mountain to the summit in about eight minutes. This short, approximate journey time can help with scheduling. Operating information can change, so check the latest details before basing your plans on them.

Crafts and Activities

At Trảng Bàng’s rice paper craft village, you can learn about the production process and buy Bánh tráng phơi sương as a regional specialty. The craft preserves a cultural tradition passed down through generations. A visit therefore combines an insight into how it is made with a specific regional product.

Long Điền Sơn amusement park includes a water park with numerous rides. Its lawns offer opportunities for camping and team-building activities. If these offerings are important to your stay, check the current arrangements before your visit.

These highlights can help you tailor your travel plans to your interests.
