Ban Kho brings together scenic attractions near Ban Ta Poe and a cultural focus in Ban Khae village. When planning your trip, it is worth considering the waterfall, reservoir and activities related to Phu Thai traditions separately: they offer different experiences and involve somewhat different planning considerations. The waterfall is characterized mainly by shallow water and seasonally varying water levels, while viewpoints and natural formations are part of the landscape around the reservoir. In Ban Khae, village culture, handicrafts and communal meals take center stage.

Huai Ta Poe Waterfall

Huai Ta Poe is in Ban Ta Poe, Village 8, in the Ban Kho subdistrict. It has shallow water and is in a shaded, peaceful setting. The waterway flows year-round, but water levels are lower in the dry season. Access begins on the paved Ban Non Sombun–Ban Ta Poe road; from there, an approximately 300-meter stretch of unpaved road leads to the waterfall. Heading toward Ban Ta Poe, turn right before the bridge at the village entrance. Conditions on the access road described here may change; check them before setting out.

Reservoir and Landscape

The Huai Ta Poe Reservoir is also in Ban Ta Poe, Village 8, and is part of the royally initiated development project for the upper Huai Bang Sai basin. Several viewpoints are located along the dam crest and on the nearby shore. Islands, rapids and rock formations lie around the reservoir; morning mist may add to the scenery by the water.

There is a campsite on the side of the Forest Regeneration and Research Center. The campsite on the side of the Forest Regeneration and Research Center has a reception building, kitchen, toilets, showers, lighting, tables, chairs and parking. Before planning to use it, check directly with the center whether the campsite is currently accessible and under what conditions.

Phu Thai Culture in Ban Khae

Ban Khae is a Phu Thai village where traditional customs are preserved. Visitor activities at Ban Khae OTOP Nawatwithi Village include a welcome with a procession accompanied by Phu Thai drums, traditional Phu Thai dances, Phu Thai folk arts and the Bai Si Su Khwan blessing ceremony. Demonstrations of cotton weaving and reed-hat weaving round out the program; Phu Thai folk music and traditional clothing are also part of it. Ask in advance which activities will be available during your visit.
