When planning a trip to Boseong-Gun, you can organize your choices around three themes: tea cultivation and tea culture, history, and astronomy. In Boseong-eup, these include the Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation, museums and historic institutions. This lets you tailor your travel plans and search for hotels in Boseong-Gun to your interests.

Tea Fields and Tea Culture

At the Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation, extensive rows of tea bushes spread across the hillside like a deep-green carpet. Tall cedars line the entrance. A visit takes you along a path through a cedar forest, through a bamboo grove, and to a viewpoint overlooking the green tea fields. On clear days, the summit viewpoint offers views of the sea. This lets you enjoy both the scenery and the plantation’s different features.

The Tea Museum of Korea offers a different way to explore the subject of tea. Each of its three floors is devoted to a different aspect of tea. On the third floor, the Tea Life Space is dedicated to education and hands-on experiences; there, you can learn about tea cultures from Korea, China, Japan and Europe. If you want to explore tea not only as a landscape but also as a cultural subject, you’ll find several perspectives under one roof.

The Green Market in Botjae sells Boseong tea and agricultural specialties from Boseong. Its range pairs tea with other products from the region’s agriculture. This makes the landscape, tea culture and local products distinct themes to include in your travel plans.

History and Historic Sites

Kim Yu-yang founded Boseong Hyanggyo in 1397 in Boseong-ri, Boseong-eup. The layout of the complex is also informative: the teaching hall, Myeongnyundang, stands at the front, while the ceremonial hall, Daeseongjeon, is at the rear. Its founding date and spatial layout give you two concrete points of reference for understanding this historic educational institution.

Bangjingwan displays the Nanjung Ilgi and other records related to Admiral Yi Sun-sin and Boseong. A mural at the entrance depicts Yi Sun-sin’s activities in Boseong over ten days. The written records and mural offer two distinct ways to explore the same historical connection. Bangjingwan’s activities include trying on Joseon Navy clothing, playing tuho, archery and traditional games. Check before your visit whether the programs are currently running.

The Boseong History and Culture Hall in Botjae covers the history and culture of Boseong from the Three Kingdoms period to the present. If you’re interested in how the area developed over a long period, this exhibition provides a chronological framework for understanding its individual historical connections.
