Hands-on experiences in Adi
At the רחלי לילה studio in Adi, you can make your own glass jewelry in a workshop. Unlike the baking introduction, the focus here is on creating your own piece of jewelry. Confirm your participation with the studio in advance.
The company “גיבושטח” offers orienteering games and treasure hunts in Adi. Confirm availability before planning a visit. Games and treasure hunts differ from craft workshops in the type of activity: here the focus is on navigation and searching, while the workshops involve hands-on work with baking or glass.
The singletrack trail starts in Adi, while the nearby community forest offers walking paths. You can choose between a mountain biking activity and a walk, without combining the two into a single route.
Cultural sites in the broader destination of the Northern District
In the broader destination of the Northern District, Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo are a distinct archaeological highlight. Tel Hazor is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city associated with the Bible. The visit focuses on the upper city. Tel Hazor includes Solomon’s Gate, a gate with six chambers and two towers dating from the 10th century BCE.
The Canaanite palace at Tel Hazor was used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BCE. The Late Bronze Age palace is considered the most elaborate in Israel and one of the most significant in the Levant. The underground water collection system is also among the site’s significant remains and represents sophisticated engineering, adapted to the geographical conditions, for storing water.
The excavated shaft at Tel Hazor is 45 meters deep. Steps three meters wide are cut into the walls of the vertical shaft. The fortifications are considered the finest example of their kind in the area from southern Turkey to the northern Negev. Tel Hazor National Park can be reached from the north and south via Route 90 in the direction of Ayelet Hashahar; check your navigation before setting out.
Tel Megiddo is one of three tells that preserve significant remains of cities associated with the Bible and are closely connected with biblical events. The Early Bronze Age temple complex is exceptional in terms of the number of its temples, the continuity of cult activity and the documented ritual practices. The orthogonal city plan dates from the Iron Age and has few parallels in the Levant. Together, these findings reveal distinct archaeological perspectives: the temple complex and its ritual activities, and the planned layout of a city.
