Churdhar rises to 11,965 feet in Sirmaur. From the summit, expansive views stretch south across the lowlands and north toward snow-covered mountain ranges. Below the summit stands the Srigul Temple: a square, single-cell structure with a deodar wood roof and a lingam dedicated to Shiva (Chooreshwar Mahadev). Mountain panoramas and the temple thus offer distinct travel interests at Churdhar. If you are drawn to both landscapes and religious architecture, this place provides a clear thematic anchor for your planning.

Mountain Landscapes and Historic Sites

The Jaitak Hills also offer a historical perspective: they are known as the site of a significant battle between British troops and the Gurkhas. The climb from Jamta to Jaitak is about 3 km. On Haripur Dhar, the rulers of the former state of Sirmour built a fort to protect the state border with the neighboring state of Jubbal. Jaitak and Haripur Dhar point to different historical themes: the battle and the former border defenses. If you would like to include Sirmaur’s past as well as its mountain landscapes, you can consider these themes separately when choosing places to visit.

Renuka Lake and Nature in the District

Renuka Lake lies in Sirmaur at 672 meters above sea level; the Renukaji Temple is on its shore. Together, the lake and temple offer a specific landscape and cultural theme for a visit. Boating and fishing are permitted at Renuka Lake by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department. Since operating permits can change, check local conditions before planning either activity.

The Renuka Wildlife Sanctuary covers 402.80 hectares in Sirmaur district. During the Renuka fair, a bronze statue of Parasu Rama from Jamu is brought in a silver palanquin. The procession gives the fair a distinctive traditional theme. If you would like to consider nature and local traditions in your travel planning, Sirmaur also offers themes suited to these interests.

Paonta Sahib on the Banks of the Yamuna

Gurdwara Paonta Sahib is located on the banks of the Yamuna River. It was built in memory of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru; Guru Gobind Singh composed the Dasam Granth here. Langar (Parshada) is served to all visitors. Its riverside setting and two historical associations give this place its own religious and cultural character among Sirmaur’s diverse themes.

Fossils, a Palace and Walking Routes

The Shivalik Fossil Park in Saketi features life-size models of prehistoric animals and fossils in a small museum. It is considered an important geological heritage site; fossils of extinct prehistoric animals have been preserved there. The focus here is on Earth’s history and prehistoric wildlife—a different emphasis from the region’s temples and fort history.

The ancient palace in the center of Nahan attracts tourists from the surrounding area. The Villa Round is one of three special walking routes for visitors in Nahan. The palace and walking route thus offer different ways to spend time in the city. A bus runs regularly between Nahan and Trilokpur via Kala Amb; check the current schedule before traveling. This specific connection can therefore be included in your travel planning without conflating it with the attractions in Nahan.
