Wenshan: Culture, Sanqi and Village Life

Wenshan offers cultural and historical, industrial and rural themes that can shape a trip in different ways. Cultural History at the Wenshan Prefecture Museum

The Wenshan Prefecture Museum features three permanent exhibitions: “Wenshan Memory,” “The Story of Bronze Drums” and “Many Ethnicities.” The collection includes, among other things, 42 bronze drums, as well as other bronze objects and ethnographic folk artifacts. The “Many Ethnicities” exhibition explores the unity and shared development of eleven ethnic groups in the Wenshan region. The collection’s bronze objects are thus presented alongside an account of the region’s ethnic diversity. Sanqi Between Industry and the Visitor Experience

Tianshili Modern Chinese Medicine Industrial Park showcases a visible Sanqi industry chain. The areas presented include research and development, fine processing, airflow pulverization, storage and logistics, cultural interpretation, and industrial tourism. Visitors can learn about Sanqi production through monitors, video presentations, on-site explanations and observation. Tianshili is part of a themed Sanqi wellness and industrial tourism route. A statement from the prefecture government dated May 25, 2026, describes a route connecting several industrial parks in Wenshan City and Yanshan County. The municipal tourism website dated September 28, 2023, also lists Yunnan Baiyao Digital Sanqi Industrial Park and Yunnan Qidan Sanqi Cultural Industrial Park as AAA-rated tourist attractions in Wenshan City. For Yunnan Baiyao Digital Sanqi Industrial Park, the described Sanqi industry chain includes cultivation, research, production and processing, trade, goods distribution, storage and logistics. The two parks therefore represent different perspectives on Sanqi: a broad industrial profile at Yunnan Baiyao Digital Sanqi Industrial Park, and presenting production to visitors at Tianshili.

Agriculture and Village Design at Shaolaozhai

Shaolaozhai Persimmon Village offers a rural focus. The village has more than 1,000 mu of land under Japanese sweet persimmon cultivation; crunchy plums, passion fruit and strawberries are also grown. Agriculture is therefore not limited to a single fruit, even though persimmons feature in the village’s name. The visitor experience includes a persimmon culture corridor, colorful paths, rest pavilions, another cultural corridor, a waterwheel and a windmill. Flowers and water shape the landscape. The cultivation and landscaped village areas offer two different perspectives on this place.
