Tunchang – Fragrance Culture, Agriculture and Painting

Dream Xiangshan Fragrant Culture Park brings together modern agricultural cultivation, rural leisure tourism and fragrance culture. The 662-mu site is located near Jialipo Village in Tuncheng Town. This gives the park a specific thematic connection for travelers who want to choose not only their accommodation but also the surroundings of their trip according to their interests.

Fragrance Culture at Dream Xiangshan Fragrant Culture Park

The park has been rated a national 4A-level scenic area. Its attractions include Jialipo Castle and the Xiang Cube Botanical Museum. The visitor offerings also include a fragrance trail, tasting fragrant tea, fragrance-themed dishes, fruit picking and buying fragrance products. These offerings combine a walk around the park with culinary experiences, harvesting and shopping.

Agriculture and Rural Life

The agricultural component is also tangible: visitors can see four groups of fragrant plants being cultivated, pick fresh fruit and experience rural life. Agriculture is therefore not just the backdrop to the fragrance theme but one of the visitor offerings in its own right. When choosing a trip, this focus can be distinguished from tastings and fragrance products: here, the emphasis is on plant cultivation, harvesting and rural experiences.

Oil Painting in Tunchang County

In the center of Tunchang County is a 200-meter-long oil-painting pedestrian street, established in 2011. A 2025 report named 25 galleries and 50 resident painters; another report from the same year counted 85 workshop painters there. Visitors can watch painters at work and commission paintings.

The street offers a different focus from the park: here, the painting process takes center stage. If you are interested in how paintings are made, watching the artists and having the option to commission paintings offer a tangible insight into local oil painting.

Sports Facilities in Tunchang

Tunchang National Fitness Center was completed and opened in late 2014. Its white, egg-shaped badminton hall is locally known as the “Dinosaur Egg.” The complex includes five five-a-side soccer fields, one seven-a-side soccer field, one enclosed soccer field, three basketball courts, two volleyball courts, two tennis courts and one gateball court. The different courts provide an overview of the range of sports facilities.

A Historical Note on the Night Market

A description from 2021 named the night market at Mingzhu Square in Tuncheng as a place to visit for nighttime shopping. If you plan to visit in the evening, check the current visitor arrangements beforehand.

The themes are quite distinct: the park combines fragrance culture and agriculture, the pedestrian street is dedicated to oil painting, and the fitness center brings together various sports facilities.
