You can focus your stay in Ningde in different ways: paths by the water, mountain scenery, historic cultural sites and viewpoints. Donghu offers wetland culture and lakeside paths, while the mountain park, pagoda and observation tower add other landscape and cultural attractions. You can arrange your itinerary according to whether nature, exercise, history or views interest you most.

Nature, Lakeside Paths and the Mountain Park

The ecological landscape belt around Donghu is one of the central areas of Ningde. It is an ecological conservation area and a focal point for wetland culture; it is also suited to enjoying nature and environmental education.

Donghu Park in the city offers paths by the water for walking and jogging, lakeside seating and natural scenery. If you want to combine exercise with time by the water, the lakeside paths are a good option; the seating invites you to linger.

Jingtai Mountain Park is in the northern part of the city. It is 246 metres high and has a mountain road as well as hiking trails. One clear difference from Donghu Park is the landscape and the paths available: here, a mountain road and hiking trails; there, paths by the water for walking and jogging. When planning, you can choose between the lakeside and the mountain park depending on the setting you prefer.

Cultural History and Viewpoints

Cai Wei Exhibition Hall is in the historic cultural quarter and is a provincial-level protected heritage site. As an educational site about revolutionary history, it offers a distinct historical focus. Residents and tourists visit the exhibition on weekends and public holidays. If you want to plan your visit in advance, check the current visiting hours.

Ruyi Pagoda stands at the summit of Tashan Park. It was rebuilt in 1997 on the site of a pagoda dating from the Southern Song dynasty. The pagoda has forty stone Buddha figures and also offers views of Donghu. Its construction history, figures and views come together in one place.

Jinghai Tower is a viewpoint in the city of Ningde. From there, you can see Donghu, the western hills, the city and Sandu Bay. Unlike the view from Ruyi Pagoda, the view from the tower includes the hills, the city and the bay as well as Donghu; the pagoda combines its view of the lake with its construction history. The two viewpoints therefore offer different highlights.

Parks and the Wider Region

Nanji Park, in central Ningde, has large lawns suitable for family picnics. Sports equipment offers other ways to relax and be active. If you are planning a family picnic, the lawns are the main attraction; the sports equipment adds the option of outdoor exercise.

A description from October 2022 mentions public drinking water stations for visitors along the paths in Nanji Park. Check before your visit whether they are still available.

In the wider Ningde region, Jitoubi, also known as Jinshetou Marina, is located in Jinshetou Village. It was completed and was in trial operation in January 2026. From central Ningde, it provides access to coastal tourism and trips out to sea. This is another regional option for travel plans that include these activities. Its operating status and services may change; check the latest information before making plans.
