When looking for a hotel in Huaibei, your interests can help you choose a starting point: cultural history, temple architecture, or nature and landscapes. The Huaibei City Museum is located in the associated municipality; in the wider Huaibei travel area, these themes are complemented by the Xiangshan Scenic Area, Xiantong Temple, and a legal culture site. The following places offer insights into collections, architectural history, plant life, and the planned layout of landscape areas.

Cultural history at the Huaibei City Museum

The Huaibei City Museum holds more than 10,000 cultural artifacts dating from the early Neolithic period to modern times. These include 17 objects or groups of objects classified as first-class national cultural relics. In the wider travel area, the museum also has more than 6,000 square meters of exhibition space, permanent exhibitions, and two temporary exhibitions. The collection’s long time span and varied exhibition formats offer culture enthusiasts different points of interest, from the collection’s historical breadth to the museum’s displays.

Temple history and architecture

Xiantong Temple in the wider Huaibei travel area has a history of more than 1,700 years. It was founded in the fifth year of the Taikang era of the Jin Dynasty. Its present architectural style dates to the Ming and Qing periods. Its founding and architectural character therefore belong to different historical periods: the temple’s age points to an early origin, while its architectural style reflects a later era. For your choice of themes, the temple complements the museum collection with its distinctive connection to architectural history.

Xiangshan: landscapes and plants

The Xiangshan Scenic Area in Huaibei covers 12.04 square kilometers and includes more than ten attractions. More than 140 plant species grow in its botanical science garden. These include the dawn redwood, which is under first-class national protection, as well as ginkgo and golden larch, which are under second-class national protection. The nature theme thus ranges from the size of the scenic area to specific plants and their protection status. Xiangshan is free for local residents to visit, and they use the area for leisurely walks.

Forest park and spatial planning

The Anhui Xiangshan National Forest Park covers 1,003.85 hectares and lies north of Huaibei’s urban area. A planning document for 2021–2030 divides the park into a core landscape zone, a general recreation zone, an ecological protection zone, and a management and service zone. An additional coordination and control zone is planned outside the park. The divisions bring together different planning priorities: landscapes, recreation, ecological protection, and management. The forest park is therefore notable not only for its area but also for its spatial layout.

Legal culture along the Sui-Tang Canal

The Legal Culture Site of the Ancient City on the Sui-Tang Canal is located on Changshan South Road in Xiangshan District, Huaibei. The site’s buildings and facilities incorporate themed stone inscriptions on law, a legal culture corridor, information boards, short legal culture films, and other works on legal culture. Visitors encounter the subject of law in various forms, from inscriptions and boards to films and other works. For travelers interested in cultural history, this provides a distinct thematic focus alongside the collection themes of the city museum and the architectural history of Xiantong Temple.
