Explore Normandy Park through its parks, hiking trails, and seasonal wildlife watching. For trip planning, specific differences can help guide your choices: loops vary in length and terrain, some parks focus on sports facilities or woodland trails, and events take place during specific periods.

Parks with Different Features

Normandy Park has six larger parks, including two natural areas with limited development. EJ Nist Family Park features open spaces, woodland, viewpoints, and trails. City Hall Park has sports fields for soccer and baseball, an outdoor basketball court, a play area, and a walking path. The parks therefore differ in specific ways: one features open spaces and woodland, while the other offers named sports and play facilities.

Hiking Trails by Length and Terrain

The trail network consists of three interconnected loops. The Red Loop is about 2.2 miles long and has a comparatively large number of hills. A more challenging 5.7-mile route also follows the outer perimeter of the three loops. By comparison, the Red Loop is shorter but has several hills, while the longer outer route is described as more challenging. The Yellow Loop starts at Natural Trails Park. Their different lengths and terrain offer distinct points of reference for choosing a route, rather than judging it by mileage alone.

Birdwatching and Seasonal Wildlife

At Nature Trails Park, quiet, shady trails are suitable for birdwatching, and local wildlife can also be spotted there. Woodland and stream habitats support a diverse bird population. At Miller Creek in Normandy Park, seasonal sightings include Coho salmon from mid-October to mid-November and Chum salmon from mid-November to early December. The periods meet around mid-November. As timing can vary from year to year, this seasonal guide can help with trip planning.

Views, History, and Events

The viewpoint by the stairs at Marine View Park is accessible via a woodland trail and offers a scenic vista. Brittany Circle Park has a historical connection: it was designed and built in 1928 for the Riviera Neighborhood. Alongside trails and wildlife watching, views and the history of a specific park project are other distinct topics to consider during a stay.

The annual “Music in the Park” series adds public events to these attractions. The 2025 schedule featured free concerts every Sunday in July and August at Marvista Park. The 2026 program included eight performances at the same location; the season ended on August 30, 2026. If music is a deciding factor for your trip, check the dates for the relevant season.

Plan Your Visit

Nist Park has a roller slide suitable for children aged five and older. This age recommendation applies to the slide. A notice dated July 15, 2026, states that Marvista Park and its playground are closed during construction. Check the current status before your visit.
