West Pasco: Chiawana Park, Cycling Routes, and Recreation
Accommodation in West Pasco
West Pasco combines a large riverside park with two named cycling routes and offerings for sports, art, and community activities. This gives you different ways to choose a destination: you can focus on the park and cycling routes or explore sports and cultural offerings. If you’re looking for a hotel in West Pasco, considering which of these aspects of the area suits your plans can help you decide.
Chiawana Park: Riverside and Parkland
Chiawana Park is a 127-acre riverside park, 25 acres of which have been developed. The developed area is just under one-fifth of the total. The figures therefore offer two different perspectives: the park’s total area and its developed portion. The cycling routes add specific distances and routes to the picture of the destination. For reference, 127 acres is about 51 hectares; the developed 25 acres is around 10 hectares.
Comparing Two Cycling Routes
The 9-mile Chiawana Park Loop starts at Chiawana Park in West Pasco and follows a bike path east along the Columbia River levee. The 18-mile Chiawana Park to Sacajawea State Park Loop starts at the eastern end of Chiawana Park and follows the Heritage Trail east. The routes therefore have different starting points and described paths; the longer route is twice as long as the 9-mile loop. A cycling guide published in May 2014 describes both routes. Check current route conditions before setting out. For reference, 9 miles is about 14.5 kilometers and 18 miles is about 29 kilometers. Distances are rounded.
