Culture and History in Ogden

At Ogden’s Union Station, you can visit all four museums for a single admission price. The self-guided 25th Street Walking Tour also begins at the station, at 25th Street and Wall Avenue. The route covers 15 iconic buildings in the district. A museum visit and a walk therefore offer two different ways to include culture in your travel plans.

The Eccles Community Art Center is located in David & Bertha Eccles’s historic home in Ogden’s historic Jefferson District. Fort Buenaventura, a historic park in central Ogden, is another point of interest connected to the city’s history. Miles Goodyear built the fort on the Weber River in 1846.

Nature Trails and Walks

The Ogden Nature Center is a 152-acre nature preserve and education center. It has more than 1.5 miles of easy walking paths and trails. Animal ambassadors teach visitors about wildlife, ecosystems and the importance of habitats. The site combines outdoor trails with educational offerings about nature and wildlife.

For planning your route, note the differences in the distances given: the Ogden Nature Center has more than 1.5 miles of easy trails; the Ogden River Parkway offers a 9.6-mile walk through nature in the heart of downtown Ogden. The Ogden Trails Network includes trails leading to mountain peaks and waterfalls. Another place to visit is MTC Park, which has a botanical garden and access to the Ogden River Parkway Trail. As conditions for trail access can change, please check before your visit.

Bike Parks for Different Skill Levels

The Ogden 9th Street Bike Park covers 26.58 acres and is located at the 9th Street trailhead. Its dirt trails are designated for all skill levels; there is also a pavilion. Motorized vehicles are not allowed in the park.

The Trackline Bike Park on Stockman Way covers 11.12 acres. Its skills park is designed for beginners through lower-intermediate riders. Features include a singletrack loop, ladder bridges, narrow balance features and wooden rollers; there is also access to the Ogden River Parkway. The information on size and skill levels helps distinguish these two bike parks based on the features described.

Museums and Activities for Children

Ogden’s George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park has more than 100 dinosaur sculptures and includes a playground and an outdoor dinosaur dig site. The Treehouse Children’s Museum tailors its visitor experience to children ages 1 to 12 with interactive exhibits and programs. Throughout the day, staff and volunteers tell stories and lead activities that invite visitors to explore the exhibits.

The two places have different focuses: the Dinosaur Park offers sculptures, a playground and a dig site; the Treehouse Children’s Museum focuses on interactive exhibits, programs and activities throughout the day. If you’re planning a trip with children, the museum’s age range offers a practical reference point for making your choice.
