Park City is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains. If you’re looking for a hotel in Park City, you can plan your trip around hiking, skiing, mining history, or events. These themes lead to different sides of the town: from its extensive trail network and ski runs to the historic downtown, including the buildings and events on Main Street.

Hiking and Trails in Park City

Park City has a trail network stretching more than 400 miles. Hiking options range from easy, family-friendly hikes to more challenging trails. The network also includes trails designated exclusively for hiking. When choosing a route, both the desired difficulty and its designated use are relevant. Check access and conditions for individual trails before setting out.

The Mid Mountain Trail is designated an IMBA Epic in Park City’s mountain trail network. Park City is also the first IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center. The designations refer to different things: IMBA Epic applies to the Mid Mountain Trail, and Gold-Level Ride Center to Park City.

Skiing into the Historic Downtown

Park City Mountain offers ski runs via the Town Runs that lead directly into Park City’s historic downtown. This connects winter sports with a destination in the historic town center. Check the status of routes and lifts before your trip.

Another connection between winter sports and culture is the Alf Engen Ski Museum at the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center in Utah Olympic Park. Visitors can experience the museum interactively year-round. Check access and programs before your visit.

Mining History and Historic Streetscape

Park City’s Main Street Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Park City has more than 400 historic sites. Another designated district is the Mining Boom Era Residences Thematic District, which includes historically significant homes dating from the mining boom era of 1872 to 1929. The two districts therefore offer different historical perspectives: Main Street as a designated historic district, and the thematic residential district with its clearly defined time period.

The Park City Museum is located in Old Town on Historic Main Street. Its mission is to preserve, protect, and promote the history and heritage of Park City. Mining history is also brought to life throughout the town through museums, preserved buildings, and information panels.

Events on Main Street

The Miner's Day Celebration takes place every year on Labor Day. It includes the Running of the Balls on historic Main Street. During Savor the Summit, Historic Main Street becomes a one-mile communal table in summer, celebrating local cuisine. The Kimball Arts Festival turns Main Street into an open-air gallery.

If you’d like to plan your trip around one of these events, check the dates and programs in advance. This will help you align your planned stay with the event date.

Bus Service for Trip Planning

Park City Transit offers visitors free public bus service year-round. Routes and service levels may change, so check the latest schedules before your trip.
