Panguitch can be explored through two clearly distinct interests: Quilt Walk history and historic buildings on the one hand, and ATV trails with related maps and information kiosks on the other. Events can also shape your travel dates. These different themes give you several concrete ways to plan a stay in Panguitch.

Quilt Walk and Historic Buildings

Quilt Walk Park has seven benches, one for each of the Quilt Walk pioneers. Each bench is engraved with a brief biographical note. The Panguitch Historic District has been listed as a historic district since 2006 and includes 379 contributing historic residential and commercial buildings. The two forms of remembrance differ in focus: the park is dedicated specifically to the Quilt Walk pioneers, while the district is defined by its collection of historic residential and commercial buildings.

The Alexander Cabin is located in the city park at the north entrance to Panguitch. Thomas Murphy Alexander built it in 1890; the Panguitch Heritage Foundation restored it as part of a Utah Centennial project. The local community maintains and protects the building. The cabin contains artifacts that give visitors a glimpse into the way of life of the early pioneers.

The building that houses the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum was originally built as a bishop’s storehouse and dedicated on August 25, 1907. The Gem Theatre offers a different focus: its renovated auditorium has 150 seats, and the expanded stage is equipped for live entertainment and movies. A museum with memorabilia from the Gem Theatre is located on the second floor. Details about facilities may change; confirm the current status before planning a visit.

Quilt Walk Festival and Events

Panguitch holds an annual celebration of the Quilt Walk event. The Quilt Walk Festival includes a chocolate festival, a quilt show with vendors, sewing and quilting classes, a dinner theater, parades, games, tours of historic homes, and a Heritage Fair. The program thus combines quilt-related offerings with stage events, parades, and tours. Depending on which activities interest you, the festival can give your visit a different focus.

The Panguitch Valley Balloon Rally includes a Saturday evening balloon glow on Panguitch’s historic Main Street; the annual schedule may change. If you are traveling for one of these events, check the dates and current program before booking.

ATV Trails and Getting Around

Panguitch is a hub for numerous types of ATV trails. Map and information kiosks are located near the city park (775 N Main), at the industrial park (175 N 700 W), and on Highway 143 in Panguitch. These three locations provide points of reference for finding maps and trail information. Use these details to get oriented before choosing a trail.
