As a destination, Beaver combines historic buildings with outdoor activities. The Beaver County Courthouse, Beaver Opera House and Courthouse Museum, along with sections of the Paiute ATV Trail and the Beaver Bench Mountain Bike Trail System, offer different ways to explore the area. If you’re looking for a hotel in Beaver, you can start by deciding whether cultural history, a motorized route or a mountain bike ride will be the focus of your stay.

Historic Buildings and Museum Exhibits

The Beaver County Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and the Beaver Opera House was added in 1982. These are two distinct historic buildings, each with its own listing and year of designation, that form part of Beaver’s cultural offerings.

The Beaver County Courthouse Museum includes exhibits about the American flag that flew on the battleship U.S.S. Utah. The ship sank at Pearl Harbor on December 4, 1941. A free audio tour of the museum’s exhibits is available through the Utah Heritage Tours app. If you’d like to use it, check that the app tour is currently available before your visit, as app-based visitor information can change.

Built in 1908 from pink tuff, the Beaver Opera House is an example of Classicist architecture. Its history of use includes vaudeville performances and community events; it was later converted into a movie theater. Today, the building houses the Opera House Civic Center. In addition to its historical significance, the building is notable for its construction and its various past uses.

Two Sections of the Paiute ATV Trail

The Paiute ATV Trail has two access points from Beaver. Section 05 starts in the northeastern part of Beaver and connects with Section 01 near Three Creeks Lake, about 18 miles from Beaver. Section 68 starts south of Beaver and is restricted to ATVs no more than 50 inches wide.

The sections differ in their starting areas and the route features described: for Section 05, the key details are its northeastern starting point and its connection with Section 01 near the lake. For Section 68, vehicle width is explicitly limited. Trail conditions and designations can change, so check current information—and especially the restriction—before using the route.

Mountain Bike Loop East of Downtown

The Beaver Bench Mountain Bike Trail System is currently a three-mile mountain bike loop, three miles east of downtown Beaver. It is suitable for beginners and offers views across the valley. The two three-mile figures refer to different things: one describes the loop’s length, while the other describes its location east of downtown. This distinguishes the trail’s length from its geographical setting. As the trail configuration may change, check current information before your ride.

Cheese at The Creamery

The Creamery offers something different: it sells a variety of cheeses and cheese curds. Cheese curds are also known as “squeaky cheese.” This adds a specific note about products you can find in Beaver to the area’s historic and outdoor activities, without implying that tastings or tours are offered.

Beaver offers several themes to explore as you plan your trip: the architecture and history of the Opera House, the Courthouse Museum exhibits, and ATV and mountain bike routes that are clearly distinct from one another.
