Edgecliff Village is an incorporated residential community south of the Fort Worth city limits in south-central Tarrant County. The community’s history, a designated memorial site, and local event dates can help orient your visit. If you’re planning a stay, distinguishing between historically significant sites and dated events can help you tailor your trip to your interests.

From Settlement Development to Municipality

The first phase of the Edgecliff Addition began in 1947. On January 20, 1951, a vote of 31 to 1 led to the formation of the Village of Edgecliff. In February 1961, the Village was renamed the Town of Edgecliff Village following population growth. These dates represent different steps: the start of development, the formation of the Village following a vote, and the later name change. This makes it possible to trace the community’s history as a sequence of events rather than combining the three dates into a single founding story.

The Edgecliff Addition developed along Sycamore Creek and around the surrounding farms. This historical connection describes the settlement’s early development within its environment at the time. Another milestone is today’s City Hall/Community Center, built in 1990. This later municipal building is also part of the community’s history, which began with the Addition in the 1940s and continued beyond the 1961 name change.

Blue Star Memorial Marker and Memorial Garden

The Blue Star Memorial Marker is located in Edgecliff Village Bird Sanctuary Park. The Edgecliff Village Garden Club unveiled and dedicated the marker on November 12, 2012. It honors all men and women who have served, are serving, or will serve in the United States armed forces. The dedication thus recognizes past, present, and future service.

The site includes a memorial garden with Knock Out roses and red yuccas. The dedication ceremony also had a military connection: it included a tribute during which representatives of each branch of service were called forward. Together, the location, plants, and dedication offer different ways to understand the memorial site: its setting in the named park, its garden design, and the marker’s purpose. For travelers interested in local commemorative traditions, this combination offers a specific historical point of interest in Edgecliff Village.

Events and Suitable Travel Dates

Texas Night Out is an annual event in Edgecliff Village, typically held on the first Tuesday in October. If you want to plan your trip around it, check the announcement for the relevant year to make sure the date fits your plans. The typical timing provides a general calendar reference, but does not replace the specific announcement for that year.

Edgecliff Village also held a Halloween Carnival in 2025. An Independence Day parade was announced for July 4, 2026. The planned participants were the fire department, the mayor, the City Council, the honor guard, and residents. The route was listed as the Chelsea and Brenton Loop, where spectators could gather and watch. The parade is described here as an announcement: the listed participants and route describe what was planned for the event, not a confirmed sequence of events. When planning, it is therefore useful to distinguish an annual recurring event date from a single dated event and an earlier announcement.
